(1) Get access to the fuel tanks (Ref. TASK 28-12-45-000-001) (Ref. TASK 28-12-46-000-001), (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-000-001), (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-000-002), (Ref. TASK 57-17-11-000-001), (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-910-002) . Remove these panels:
-the wing fuel tank access panels 540AB, 540BB, 540CB, 540DB, 540EB, 540FB, 540GB, 540HB, 540JB, 540KB, 540LB, 540MB 540NB, 540PB, 540QB, 540RB, 550AB, 550BB, 550CB, 550DB 640AB, 640BB, 640CB, 640DB, 640EB, 640FB, 640GB, 640HB, 640JB, 640KB, 640LB, 640MB 640NB, 640PB, 640QB, 640RB, 650AB, 650BB, 650CB, 650DB 148AZ.

A. Removal of the Microbiological Particles
WARNING : DO NOT GET THE COMPOUND ON YOUR SKIN.

IF YOU DO:
-RUB IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN CLOTH
-WASH THE SKIN WITH SOAP AND RINSE WITH CLEAN WATER.
CAUTION : DO NOT LET NEODOL 91-6E STAY IN THE FUEL TANK:

IT IS NOT PERMITTED IN THE ENGINES AND APU.
(1)
Mix a solution of one part of CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-009) to 16 parts of water.
(2)
Clean the areas of contamination with a brush and the solution.

R (3) Contamination can be seen as:
R - brown slimy or white particles
R - a dark staining of the tank structure surface (when the tanks are
R dry)
R - a mat of microbiological particles you can see on the surface of
R the tank
R - sludge or slime with a strong sulphide smell
R - surface damage to sealants.
R (4) Make sure that you fully clean:
R - the lower surfaces of the tank structure (stringers, spars and
R ribs)
R - areas where water can be caught
R - the fuel pump canisters
R - the fuel quantity probes.
R NOTE : Take care when you do an inspection for contamination. The____
R color of the contamination can be the same color as the
R sealants used in fuel tanks.
R (5) Remove the solution and microbiological particles with clean water.
R Remove water from the tank with a sponge.
R (6) Preparation of cleaning agent.
R WARNING : DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU_______

R - FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
R - GET MEDICAL AID.
(a) Mix a solution of one part of CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-
006) to one part of water in a container.
(b) Make sure there is not more than 50% of Methyl Alcohol in the
solution.
R (7) Apply the solution to the contaminated area and let it stay there for
between 15 mins and 2 hours.
R (8) Remove the solution with clean water. Remove any water from the tank
with a sponge.
R (9) Use a air blower to make sure that the tank is dry.

B. Tank Inspection
(1)
Examine the exposed structure, brackets and clamps for damage and corrosion. Make sure that the all components are correctly attached.
(2)
Examine the tank seals and sealant for deterioration.
(3)
Examine all the fuel system pipelines, couplings, bonded items, brackets and clamps for damage and corrosion. Make sure that the attachments are secure.
(4)
Examine the tank seals and sealant for deterioration.
NOTE : If necessary, refer to the ASRM (Ref. ASRM 517000) for repair

data.

A. Close Access
(1)
Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2)
Close the access to the fuel tanks (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. TASK 28-12-45-400-002), (Ref. TASK 28-12-46-400-001), (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-400-001), (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-400-002), (Ref. TASK 57-17-11-400-001). Install these panels:
-the wing fuel tank access panels 540AB, 540BB, 540CB, 540DB, 540EB, 540FB, 540GB, 540HB, 540JB, 540KB, 540LB, 540MB 540NB, 540PB, 540QB, 540RB, 550AB, 550BB, 550CB, 550DB 640AB, 640BB, 640CB, 640DB, 640EB, 640FB, 640GB, 640HB, 640JB, 640KB, 640LB, 640MB 640NB, 640PB, 640QB, 640RB, 650AB, 650BB, 650CB, 650DB 147AZ, 148AZ.
