 (5) Remove the leading-edge access-panels as required, to get access to the front of the wing tanks.
 (6) Extend the flaps fully (Ref. TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
 (7) Make sure that the LOCKING TOOL - FLAP/SLAT CONTROL LEVER (98D27803000000) is on the slat/flap control lever.
 (8) Extend the spoilers (Ref. TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
 (9) Make sure that the COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER (98D27604000000) is on the spoiler servo-controls.
 (10) Remove the trailing edge access panels as required, to get access to the rear of the wing tanks.

 

 (11) Remove the access panels 132PW, 131NW, 131PW for access to the center

 tank front spar.

 F. Installation of Equipment
 (1) Install the DUMMY DOOR-NACA VENT (98D57204000000) as follows: (Ref. Fig. 503/TASK 28-11-00-991-005)
 (a)
 Remove the applicable bolts (10).

 (b)
 Put the DUMMY DOOR-NACA VENT (13) in position and attach it with the washers (11) and the bolts (12).

 (c)
 Connect the vacuum equipment capable of a negative pressure to


 6.00 p.s.i. (0.414 bars) to the DUMMY DOOR-NACA VENT (13).
 (d) Connect a manometer negative press range of 3.00 to 6.00 p.s.i.
 (0.207 to 0.414 bars) to the DUMMY DOOR-NACA VENT (13).

 A. Leak Test
 (1)
 Mix the SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-045), SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-045A) or SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-046B) (refer to the dye manufacturers instructions for the details).

 Operation of the vacuum equipment CAUTION : THE NEGATIVE PRESSURE MUST NOT BE MORE THAN 2.9 PSI (0.20

 (a) Operate the vacuum equipment so that there is a maximum negative pressure of 0.25 bar (3.6 psi).
 (3) Use a soft brush or a syringe to apply the dye solution to the tank (external surface only).

 (4) Keep the area wet for a minimum of 30 minutes, as follows:
 - above the wing, make a dam with putty and fill the dam with the dye
 solution
 - below the wing, attach a plastic bag filled with the dye solution
 - vertical faces of the tank, use the putty or the plastic bag
 procedure.
 (5) After 1 hour let the negative pressure slowly go back to normal.
 (6) Remove the applicable fuel tank access panels (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-
910-002) (Ref. TASK 57-17-11-000-001) (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-000-001)
 (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-000-002).

 B. Visual Inspection
 (1)
 Make a visual inspection inside the tank and look for signs of the dye (refer to the dye manufacturers instructions for details).

 (2)
 If the dye has not gone into the tank, no more tests are necessary.

 (3)
 If the dye has gone into the tank, make a mark at the location of the leak.
