(1) You must obey the safety precautions (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
(2) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Make sure that the access platform is below the applicable access panel 550AB, 650AB.
(2)
Make sure that the fuel has been drained from the vent surge tank through the water drain valve (Ref. TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(3)
Make sure that the applicable NACA vent intake is removed (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-910-002) (Ref. TASK 28-12-47-000-001).
4. Procedure

A. Preparation for Installation
(1)
Clean the component interfaces and/or the adjacent area with a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026).
(2)
Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(3)
Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(4)
Apply FUELS (Material No. 01-001) or COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-012) to the new O-ring (5) and O-ring (3).

B. Installation of the Water Drain Valve
(1)
Put the bolts (4) in position then install one O-ring (5) on each bolt (4).
(2)
Install the O-ring (3) on the water drain valve (2).
(3)
Install the water drain valve (2) then install and tighten the nuts (1).
(4)
Apply SEALANTS (Material No. 09-007) to the nuts (1) and the ends of the bolts (4).
