WARNING : OBEY THE SAFETY PROCEDURES WHEN YOU DO WORK IN A FUEL TANK.

(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. TASK 28-00-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank. But where differences occur, you must use the approved precautions of this procedure.

A. Safety Precautions
R (1) You must obey these precautions when you go in a fuel tank or when
R you remove the fuel-tank access panels (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-000-001) (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-000-002) (Ref. TASK 57-17-11-000-001) (Ref. TASK 28-12-45-000-001) (Ref. TASK 28-12-46-000-001) (Ref. TASK 28-12-47-000-001). Read these precautions together with the special notes and precautions which are applicable to specified maintenance operations.

NOTE : These precautions are the minimum safety standard for work in____ a fuel tank. But, the Local Regulations can make other safety precautions necessary.
(2) You must complete the Pre-Entry Checklist before you do work in a fuel tank. (Ref. Fig. 301/TASK 28-10-00-991-004)
(3) You must put on protective clothing when you do work in or around a fuel tank.
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and open to the air.
(5) The person in the fuel tank and the safety person out of the fuel tank must obey these precautions:
(a) There must be a continuous flow of clean filtered air through the fuel tank when the person is in the tank.
(b) If possible, the safety person must position himself to be able to see the person in the fuel tank and monitor his safety.
