A00703 Sealant - BMS 5-26 Type II Class C,
 for extrusion gun, roller, and spatula
 application. Applicable for use only as a
 faying surface sealant where a long
 squeeze-out life is necessary


 (e)  
A00706 - Sealant, PR1826, Class B-1/2 or B-1/4, dark grey, available in 6 ounce semkits with primer.


 NOTE: Use with PR-1826 adhesion promoter.

Prepare for the Fuel Tank Repair

Defuel the applicable fuel tank (AMM 28-23-00/201).

Drain the fuel in the sumps (AMM 12-11-00/301).

 (3) Prepare to go into the applicable fuel tank (AMM 28-10-00/201).Remove the Corrosion Resistant Finish (Topcoat) If It Is Necessary
 NOTE: Usually it is not necessary to remove the finish from metal
____ adjacent to the repair area. Finish (topcoat) applied to the top of the sealant can be removed when you remove the sealant.

 (1)  If the surface has a finish layer (topcoat) on the top of the sealant, remove all of the finish from the sealant repair area.
 (a)  With abrasive paper, remove the finish until you see bare metal or sealant in a good condition.

 (b)  With some clean gauze pads wet with solvent, Series 93 (AMM 20-30-93/201) clean all of the surfaces from which you removed the topcoat.
 NOTE: Make sure you clean the surface of the sealant.

 (c)  
Dry the surfaces with a clean gauze pad.

 (d)  
Clean the surfaces and dry them again until the gauze is clean after you dry the surfaces.


 H. Remove the Fuel Tank Sealant
 S 148-328
 (1)  Use the sealant cutting tools (Fig. 802) to remove the sealant that has the leak.
 (a)  
Cut the part of the sealant that has the leak from the fillet (Fig. 803). 1) Cut the ends of the section with the leak at a slope to

 cause the new sealant to make an overlap with the remaining sealant. 2) Make sure you cut the seal smoothly.

 (b)  
If fillet adhesion is good, it is not necessary to cut sealant down to the bare metal. 1) Make sure you remove all of the loose sealant.
