S 014-002
(1) Remove the air conditioning equipment that you must remove to get access to the access panel for the center tank (Ref Chapter 21).

WARNING: CAREFULLY DO ALL OF THE SAFETY PROCEDURES TO DEFUEL THE TANK
_______ AND TO GO INTO THE TANK. INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE SAFETY PROCEDURES.

Prepare to go into the center fuel tank (AMM 28-10-00/201).

With the sealant removal tools, remove the layers of the sealant material from these surfaces (AMM 28-11-00/801):
(a)
The heads of the bolts that attach the panel
(b)
The edges of the clamp ring.

(4) Remove the mounting bolts, the washers, and the clamp ring from the access panel.

CAUTION: DO NOT PUSH THE PANEL FROM THE OPENING WITH A SHARP OBJECT.
_______ DAMAGE CAN EASILY OCCUR TO THE IMPORTANT SURFACES WHICH MUST SEAL TIGHTLY.
(5) Remove the panel.
(a)
Push the panel up to break the seal.
(b)
If the panel does not move freely, hit it lightly around the edges with the rubber mallet until it moves freely.
(c)
Turn the panel and move it through the opening.
(d)
Disconnect the bonding jumper from the panel.

_______ OPENING BEFORE YOU GO THROUGH THE OPENING. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO AN IMPORTANT SEAL SURFACE IF THE EDGE DOES NOT HAVE PROTECTION.
(6) Install the rubber covers to give protection around the access panel opening.
