 E. Procedure

 (1)  Fill the tanks to approximately 10% of the capacity before you put the biocide in the tank (Ref 12-11-00/301).

 TOUCH YOUR SKIN. BIOCIDE IS A POISONOUS MATERIAL.

 CAUTION: DO NOT PUT LARGE CONCENTRATIONS OF THE BIOCIDE IN THE FUEL
_______ TANKS. THE LARGE CONCENTRATIONS CAN MAKE SALT PARTICLES THAT CAN CAUSE CORROSION.
 (2)  For the Biocide Biobor JF, add the biocide to the fuel to get a maximum concentration of 270 parts per million (ppm) by weight:
 (a)  
Use calibrated injection equipment.

 (b)  
If calibrated injection equipment is not available, refer to the Corrosion Prevention Manual (CPM 20-62-00) for other approved procedures.

 (4)  S 652-152Fill the tanks until they are full with the fuel with the biocide.
 (5)  S 112-153For Biobor JF, let the fuel with the biocide stay in the tank for a minimum of 72 hours.
 (6)  S 112-508For Kathon FP1.5, let the fuel with the biocide stay in the tank for a minimum of 24 hours.
 NOTE:____ More than 24 hours may be necessary to completely kill all of the microbial growth.

 INTEGRAL FUEL TANKS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

 1.  General (Fig. 1)_______
 A.  Integral fuel tanks, No. 1, No. 2, and center, keep fuel that is necessary to operate the engines and the auxiliary power unit. A surge tank, outboard of the No. 1 and No. 2 tank, collects fuel overflow and includes equipment to vent the fuel tanks overboard.
 B.  The fuel tanks hold the necessary equipment for the refuel operation (AMM 28-21-00/001), defueling (AMM 28-23-00/201), and engine fuel feed (AMM 28-22-00/001). Equipment necessary for fuel quantity indicating system is also contained in the fuel tank structure.
 C.  Fuel Tank Construction
 (1)  Primary wing structure is used for the airplane fuel tanks. The tanks are found between the front and rear wing spars and between the upper and lower wing skin. Solid "tank end" ribs close the ends of each tank, while all other wing ribs act as fuel baffles to minimize fuel slosh.
