Examine the open tank for unwanted objects, for example tools, broken pieces of metal, and other unwanted material.

Clean the open tank, if it is necessary, then continue the access panel installation.

(3) S 094-015Remove the rubber protector panel from the access panel opening.
(4) S 164-016Clean these surfaces fully with a clean, lint-free cloth moist with solvent. (a) Clean the edge of the opening in the wing which will touch the access panel. (b) Clean the access panel surface which will touch the wing skin. (c) Clean the clamp ring.
(5) S 214-017Examine the inner wing surface and the wing skin near the access panel opening for corrosion. (a) If you find some corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual (SRM 57-20-01).
NOTE:____ The Corrosion Prevention Manual (CPM 20-40-00), also gives data to repair and prevent corrosion.
(6) S 214-018Make sure the aluminum gasket is serviceable.
(7) S 164-020If the gasket is serviceable, clean the gasket with a clean, lint-free cloth moist with solvent.
(8) S 964-021If the gasket is not serviceable, do these steps to replace it: (a) Put the tray assembly for the gasket on a flat surface with its face up. (b) Remove the paper cover from the tray. (c) Put the clamp ring on the gasket (with the countersunk end of the holes face up).

(d) Make sure the clamp ring and gasket holes align.
NOTE: The holes are not symmetrical.
