Remove the access panel for the center fuel tank (AMM 28-11-31/401).

Get access to the No. 2 bay for the center tank.
(a)
Make sure the rubber protection covers are in the correct position around the access panel opening.
(b)
Immediately before you go into the tank, remove your shoes and put a pair of tank boot socks on your feet.
(c)
Do not let the socks touch the metal particles or the unwanted material from the ladder or from the aerostand.

(4) Go into the fuel tank with lights that have the correct protection.
(a) Remove the remaining fuel with an applicable cloth before you do the work in the tank.

(b) Install the rubber protection covers in the beam access opening along the span of the airplane.

(5) Hold the valve in the correct position against the force of the spring, while you remove these parts:
(a)
the two nuts
(b)
the two washers
(c)
the two bolts.

Remove the sump drain valve.

Clean the valve seat on the upper housing.

Examine the seal surface of the valve seat to make sure it is in a good condition.

Hold the valve in its correct position on the housing against the force of the spring while you install these parts:
(a)
the two bolts
(b)
the two washers
(c)
the two nuts.
(2)
Make sure the valve is in its correct position against the housing.
(3)
Make sure the valve operates correctly and the flapper moves freely.
(4)
Remove all the tools and the equipment from the bay and the tank.
(5)
Remove the rubber protection covers from the access openings.
