B. The sump drain valves for the main tanks are installed in shrink-fit bushings in the skin on the bottom of the wing. The mating threads of the valve and the bushing have a layer of dry film lubricant for protection from galling. If you must remove or install the valve, be careful not to cause damage to the threads.

Make sure the seal surfaces of the valve body and the bushing are clean and in a good condition.

Install new O-ring on the valve body.

Engage the valve body into the bushing.
(a) Make sure you engage the threads of the valve body with the bushing correctly.

(4) Install the parts that attach the drain valve.

Go into the fuel tank.
(b)
Install the jamnut.
(c)
Tighten the jamnut to 50 pound-inches.
(d)
Install the lockwire between the jamnut and the airplane structure.
