Do the procedure: "Fuel Tank Entry" to go into the No. 1 cavity of the center tank.

 (i)  
Put the air hose into the No. 2 cavity through the opening in the beam that goes along the span.

 (j)  
Put the air hose the maximum possible distance into the No. 2 cavity.

 (k)  
Continue to operate the air mover to give a good flow of air to the No. 2 cavity.

 (l)  Do these steps to put a plug in the forward vent tube in the No. 1 cavity of the center tank (Fig. 207).
 NOTE:____ This step is not necessary if you did the purging and entry procedure for all of the tanks on the airplane.
 1)  Remove the bonding jumpers and disengage the center vent tube (a T-fitting) from the left vent tube and the right vent tube.
 (m) (n) (o) (p) (q) (r)  2) Remove the clamps that hold the center vent tube to the beam that goes along the span. 3) Remove the bolt that holds the tube support bracket to the stringer. 4) Remove the center vent tube. 5) Install the tube plug assemblies, F80080-49, in the two open ends of the left vent tube and the right vent tube.Continue to operate the air mover until the combustible gas indicator reads 10% or less of LEL for the No. 1 cavity and for the No. 2 cavity.Do the procedure: "Fuel Tank Entry" to go into the No. 2 cavity in the center tank.Put the exhaust hose for the air mover into the No. 3 cavity through the aft beam that goes along the span of the airplane.Put the hose the maximum possible distance into the No. 3 cavity.Start to move the air through the No. 3 cavity.Continue to operate the air mover until the combustible gas indicator shows 10% or less of the LEL for all of the tank
 cavities.
 (s) (t)  Do the procedure: "Fuel Tank Entry" to go into the No. 3 cavity.Install the two drain valve plugs, F80080-112, on the lower end of the drain check valves for the vent system.
 NOTE:____ This step is not necessary if you did the purging and entry procedure for all of the other tanks.
 (u) (v)  Do the procedure: "Fuel Tank Entry" to go into the No. 2 cavity in the center tank.Install the closure plug, F80080-8, for the float valve between the vent float arm and the float downstop.
 NOTE:____ This step is not necessary if you did the purging and entry procedure for all of the other tanks on the airplane.

 (3)  AIR BLOWER TYPE VENTILATION EQUIPMENT (BOE-501 OR EQUIVALENT); Do these steps:
 (a)  
Remove the center tank access door (AMM 28-11-31/401).

 (b)  
Put the four inch air duct inside the open access door where you will do the maintenance.

 (c)  
Use the pigtail on the end of the air duct to bond the air duct to the airplane structure. 1) Make sure there will be a flow of air into the area where

 you will do the maintenance.

 (d)  
After the air supply has operated for approximately 30 minutes, put the sampling line of the combustible gas indicator (Fig. 205) as far into the fuel tank as possible.


 NOTE: It is recommended that you take the combustible gas
____ indicator value regardless of the type of fuel that was contained in the fuel tank. If the fuel tank had contained kerosene only, then the combustible gas indicator should show zero. This shows that the tank atmosphere is in fire-safe and health-safe condition.
 (e)  
Wait one minute for each foot (300 mm) of sampling line before you take a reading.

 (f)  
Use table below to convert the values on the combustible gas indicator to the actual levels.


 NOTE: If you use a combustible gas indicator that is not
____ listed below, follow the manufacturer's instructions to get the actual values.
