 WING FUEL TANK ACCESS PANELS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure has these tasks:
 (1)  
The removal of access panels No. 1 thru 13.

 (2)  
The installation of access panels No. 1 thru 13.

 (3)  
The removal of access panel No. 14.

 (4)  
The installation of access panel No. 14.

 (5)  
The surge tank access door leak test


 B.  The access panels No. 1 thru 12 (Fig. 401) give access to the internal structure and the equipment in tanks No. 1 and No. 2.
 C.  Access panel No. 13 gives access to the inboard part of each surge tank and if installed, has a pressure relief valve mounted in the panel. The circular access panel No. 14 operates as the air vent scoop for the fuel vent system in each wing. Panel No. 14 also gives access to the outboard part of the surge tank in each wing.
 D.  The access panels No. 1 thru 13 are oblong, not circular. The installation procedure and the seals for these panels are different from those used with panel No. 14.
 E.  On the original design, No. 13 surge tank access doors, 10-60031, do not have a pressure relief valve installed in them. No. 14 vent scoop access doors, 65-68831, do not have a flame arrestor installed in them. These doors are replaced by SB 737-28-1026 and SB 737-28-1131.
 F.  The No. 14 access panels, 65C38139-1/-2, have a flame arrestor/vent scoop installed on them. The No. 13 access panels 65C15617-2 have a pressure relief valve installed on them.
 G.  The No. 14 surge tank access panels with the flame arrestor/vent scoop must be installed with the No. 13 surge tank access panels with the pressure relief valve. If the flame arrestor becomes clogged, and there is no pressure relief valve, the wing can be damaged by the pressure differences.
 H.  Remove the electrical power on the airplane before you remove an access panel.
 I.  Do not put back the electrical power on the airplane until the tank is closed and safe.

Container - clean, flat, large enough to hold clamp ring and aluminum gasket
