Install two new O-rings, lightly lubricated with fuel, on the sump drain assembly.

Install the drain assembly in the housing.
(a) Move the drain assembly up through the access door opening for the sump drain.
NOTE: You will feel the sump drain assembly when it
____ touches the sump drain valve.

Turn the sump drain assembly counterclockwise until it is against the sump drain valve.
(c)
Tighten the sump drain assembly with the fitting on the end of the drain tube.
(d)
Make sure the rod that operates the valve is on the aft side of the assembly when the assembly is tight.

Open the access door for the right air conditioning bay to find the ground strap.

Attach the ground strap to the sump drain assembly.

Close the access door for the right air conditioning bay.

Attach the retaining plate to the hexagonal fitting on the sump drain assembly with the lockwire.

Attach the retaining plate to the drain well structure with the two bolts and the washers that you removed before this step.

Do a check of the electrical bond between the drain assembly and the structure (SWPM 20-20-00).
(a) The resistance must not be more than 0.010 ohms.

Make sure the valve operates correctly.
(a)
Pull the rod that operates the sump drain assembly.
(b)
Make sure the rod moves freely when you pull with a maximum force of five to ten pounds.
(c)
If the tank contains some fuel, catch the fuel that flows from the sump drain assembly in an applicable container.
(10)
Close the access door for the sump drain.
