Remove the clamp ring, the gasket, and the release strip from the tray as a unit.

Put the assembly, with the gasket side turned up, on a flat surface.
(h)
Remove the release strip from the gasket.

(9) Examine the rubber seal for deterioration.
NOTE: You can remove the rubber seal on all high
____ impact-resistant access doors and the newer type of replacement access doors (Fig. 401). You can also remove the rubber seal on access doors made of lightweight composite if they are installed.
(a)
Clean the rubber seal with a clean, lint-free cloth moist with solvent.
(b)
Look for areas of deterioration on the rubber seal.
(c)
Replace the rubber seal, if it is necessary (AMM 28-11-11/801).
F. Installation Procedure

Put the access panel in the tank and put it above the opening.

If you use the same aluminum gasket which you removed before, examine the quantity of anticorrosion grease.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU REPLACE THE ANTICORROSION GREASE IF THE
_______ MANUFACTURING DATE OF THE GASKET IS MORE THAN FIVE (5) YEARS OLD. DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(4) If you use a new gasket, do a check of the manufacturing date.
(a) If today's date is more than five (5) years after the manufacturing date, do these steps: 1) Remove the old anticorrosion grease from the gasket. 2) Fill the gasket with new anticorrosion grease. 3) Make sure the anticorrosion grease correctly fills the
gasket when you install it.

(5) Apply a thin layer, 0.010-0.015 inch (0.254-0.381 millimeters), of anticorrosion grease to the flat surface of wing skin which touches the aluminum gasket (Fig. 401).

(6) Refer to AIPC 28-11-11-05 for the correct bolts to use for the access door that you install.

DIRECTION. IF THE ACCESS PANEL IS INSTALLED IN THE OPENING
WITH ITS INBOARD END IN THE OUTBOARD DIRECTION, A FUEL LEAK CAN
OCCUR.
(7) For the access panels with a fuel measuring stick, 7202L or 7402R, 7206L or 7406R, 7208L or 7408R, 7210L or 7410R, and 7212L or 7412R, make sure the access panel is installed in the correct direction.
NOTE: Wing tank access panels No. 1, 4, 6, 8 and 10 have fuel
____ measuring sticks. Access panels without fuel measuring sticks can be installed in either direction.

On access doors which are impact resistant (POST-SB 28-1081), make sure the applicable warning statement and identification are on the access door and on the adjacent airplane skin (Fig. 402, example).
