B. The sump drain valves for the surge tank are installed in shrink-fit bushings. These bushings are installed in the skin on the bottom of each wing (Fig. 401). The mating threads of the valve and the bushing have a layer of dry film lubricant, which was baked on at the factory. If you must remove or install the valve, you must be careful not to cause damage to the threads.

D. Procedure
(1) S 164-004Clean the drain valve in the solvent until the screen and the drain valve are free of all unwanted material.
(2) S 214-005Make sure the drain valve threads have the layer of dry film lubricant. (a) Replace the valve if the layer of dry film lubricant is not complete.
(3) S 644-006Lightly lubricate the new O-ring seal with some fuel.
(4) S 434-007Put the O-ring in the correct position on the drain valve.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE THREADS OF THE VALVE AND THREADS OF
_______ THE BUSHING TOGETHER CORRECTLY. DAMAGE TO THE THREADS CAN OCCUR.
(5) Carefully install the valve in the bushing and tighten it with your hand.
