(2) Marking/identification
Each disk stored on the aircraft is identified by a label with the following indications:
(a)
Functional designation: FMGC navigation data base, ACARS data base, etc.
(b)
Aircraft type: A/C / MODEL(OPTIONAL) / TAIL(OPTIONAL) / NUMBER(OPTIONAL).
(c)
Part Number:
Hardware reference of the disk and software reference of the loadable software which is the same as the reference of the loaded computer itself (or data base or airline customization reference if any).
(d)
Supplier's name: Name of the supplier of the formatted disk and its contents.
(e)
Supplier's code Code of the supplier of the formatted disk and its contents.
(f)
FIN only for TCAS computer, ACARS MU, AIDS DMU operational disk. **ON A/C 201-203,
H.
MDDU Interface (Messages)
A 16-character display permits communications between the operator and
the data loader. The messages inform the operator of the transfer status
12 messages can be displayed, one at a time.
These messages are:
-MDDU READY:
when the data loader has performed a power on self-test and if no anomaly is detected, this message is displayed.
R 1EFF : 106-149, 151-199, 201-299, 301-399, 1 31-38-00Page 31 1401-499, 1Config-2 Aug 01/05 1 1 1CES 1 -READY:
A disk is inserted in the loader drive. The equipment is ready. This message acknowledges disk insertion.
-WAIT RESPONSE:
This message is displayed when the data loader is waiting for a
response from the computer at initialization.
This situation may arise for various reasons:
-
the computer is not power supplied or is out of order
-
the data loading selector is set to the wrong computer
-
the configuration file is not correct (e.g. wrong system address label etc.)
-
the LGCIU1 is not power supplied (the target computer does not receive the ground indicating that it is in load mode).
NOTE : This message can be displayed indefinitely, without display of an
____ anomaly message.
-TRANS FAILURE:
If the data loader has to stop data transfer (up or down loading) for any reason (time-out, bad checksum, etc.) this message is displayed. The data loader can be reset by a RESET command or by a power-on routine after the anomaly has been corrected, or by removing and inserting the disk.
-UNIT FAIL:
The data loader displays this message if a hardware failure is detected during the self-test. In this case, the data loader stops all operations.
NOTE : The maintenance messages concerning the MDDU can be consulted on
____ the SYSTEM REPORT TEST CFDS page (Ref. para. BITE).
-DISK ERROR:
If the data loader cannot read or write data on the disk (incorrect
formatting, write-protected, disk damaged, etc.) it will interrupt
operations and display this message.
R 1EFF : 201-203, 1 31-38-00Page 32 1 1 Config-2 Feb 01/05 1 1 1CES 1 -EJECT DISK and INSERT NEXT DISK:
When the volume of data to be transferred is large and requires several disks, these messages (shown one after the other) inform the operator that the disk must be changed.
-DISK CHANGE:
Disk not compatible with the configuration file.
-
TRANSF COMPLETE:
When data transfer between the data loader and the computer has been successfully completed, this message is displayed to indicate the end of the transfer.
-
TRANSF IN PROG:
The data loader is in communication with the computer concerned and data transfer operations are in progress.
-TEST IN PROGRESS: The disk inserted in the loader is identified as a test disk. The data
loader is in test mode. NOTE : The disk should not be extracted while TRANSF IN PROG and TEST IN
____ PROGRESS messages are displayed as damage to the disk could result.
