B. Preparation for the Installation
(1) Remove the sealant from the mating surface of the manifold (1) and
the aircraft structure with a plastic or wooden scraper.
(2) Examine the structure of the aircraft in the area of the manifold
attachment for cracks, corrosion or other damage.
(3) Apply a layer of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-018) to the mating surface
of the manifold (1).

R CAUTION : USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN_______
R YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU USE
R THE SECOND WRENCH, YOU WILL NOT LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO
R MUCH.
R CAUTION : YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS_______
R LUBRICANT.
R (1) Put the manifold (12) in position on the aircraft and install the
R bolts (4) and the washers (5). Do not tighten the bolts (4).
R (2) Remove the blanking plugs from the pipe end-fittings and the unions
R on the manifold (12).
R (3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
R (4) Apply the HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003) to the threads of
R the line end-fittings.
R (5) Connect the pipe (9) to the union (11).
R (6) TORQUE the pipe end-fitting (10) to between 5.4 and 5.9 m.daN (39.82
R and 43.51 lbf.ft).
R (7) Connect the pipe (8) to the union (6).
R (8) TORQUE the pipe end-fitting (7) to between 7.5 and 8.3 m.daN (55.30
R and 61.20 lbf.ft).
