(11)
Retract the RAT (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-869-006).
(12)
Install the SAFETY DEVICE - RAT (98D29208246001) (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-860-007).
(13)
Make sure that the safety device does not lift the RAT above its retracted position. This will have an unwanted effect on the adjustment of the doors.

B. Adjustment of the RAT Actuator
(1)
Measure the clearance "A" between the highest point of the RAT hub and the forward outboard attachment bracket of the RAT box. (Ref. Fig. 506/TASK 29-22-00-991-022)
(2)
Make sure that the clearance is as specified:
-clearance "A" must be not less than 14.0 mm (0.5511 in.).
(3)
If the clearance is not correct, do the subsequent procedure to adjust the length of the RAT actuator.
(a)
Remove the SAFETY DEVICE - RAT (98D29208246001) (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-860-008).
(b)
Extend the RAT (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-869-005).
(c)
Remove the nut (15), the washer (14), the bolt (12) and the washer (13).
(d)
Remove the RAT actuator (10) from the leg assembly (11).
(e)
Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the locknut (16).
(f)
Loosen the locknut (16) with a minimum of two turns.
(g)
Remove the lock washer from the piston rod of the actuator.
(h)
Turn the eye-end (17) to change the length of the actuator as necessary.
(i)
Install the lock washer correctly in the slot of the piston rod.
