(2) If one of the two dimensions is not correct, do this procedure to adjust the length of the RAT actuator;
(a)
Remove the SAFETY DEVICE - RAT (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-860-002).
(b)
Extend the RAT (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-869-001).
(c)
Remove the nut (5), the bolt (2) and the two washers (3), (4) and disconnect the actuator from the RAT leg.
(d)
Cut and remove the lockwire and slacken the locknut (1)
sufficiently to disengage the locking key (6).
(e)
Turn the eye-end to change the length of the actuator as
required.
(f)
Temporarily tighten the locknut (1). Make sure that the locking key (6) engages correctly. Do not safety the locknut (1) at this stage.
(g)
Connect the actuator to the RAT leg. Install the washers (3), (4), the bolt (2) and the nut (5). Temporarily tighten the nut (5).
(h)
Make sure that the hydraulic pressure in the Blue system is 100 bar +/- 10 bar. Retract the RAT (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-869-002).
(i)
Install the SAFETY DEVICE - RAT (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-860-001).
(j)
Measure the dimensions "A" and "B" and make sure that they are as specified above.
(k)
If necessary, do the adjustment procedure again. NOTE : If it is not possible to obtain the correct adjustment of
____ "A" and "B" together, then the dimension "B" is more important than "A".
(l)
Remove the SAFETY DEVICE - RAT (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-860-002).
(m)
Extend the RAT (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-869-001).
(n)
TORQUE the locknut (1) to between 4.42 and 4.52 m.daN (32.59 and
33.33 lbf.ft).
(o)
Safety the locknut (1) with lockwire, corrosion-resistant steel, dia 0.8 mm (0.032 in.).

(p) TORQUE the nut (5) to between 2.45 and 2.55 m.daN (18.06 and
18.80 lbf.ft). Subtask 29-22-00-820-061
C. Adjustment of the RAT Doors
(1)
If the adjustment procedure above was not necessary, remove the SAFETY DEVICE - RAT (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-860-002).
(a) Extend the RAT (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-869-001).
(2)
Connect the outer (LH) door to its operating link (8). Install the bolt (18), the washers (17), (16) and the nut (15).
(3)
Tighten the nut (15) and safety it with the cotter pin (14).
(4)
Cut and remove the lockwire and slacken the two locknuts (7),(9). NOTE : The upper locknut (7) has a left-hand thread.
____
(5)
Turn the blades of the RAT until one blade opposes the outer (LH) door.
(6)
Turn the barrel of the operating link to change the length of the link to set gap "C" between RAT blade tip and door tip as required:
-gap "C" must be 17 mm (0.6692 in.).
NOTE : Make sure that you measure the gap "C" between RAT blade tip
____
and door tip (not door seal).
NOTE : The value of the gap "C" is given for the pre-adjustment of
____ the RAT doors. This value of the gap "C" prevents damage when you retract the RAT the first time. When the rigging procedure of the RAT is completed, the value of the gap "C" becomes smaller. The minimum clearance must be 13 mm (0.5118 in.).
NOTE : The barrel of the operating link is made of two parts which
____ are joined with a swivel link. Thus, if you turn one part of the barrel only the eye-end attached to that part is adjusted .
(7)
Temporarily tighten the two locknuts (7),(9).
(8)
Increase the pressure of the hydraulic supply to 206 bar (3000 psi).
R 1EFF : 001-049, 051-061, 101-105, 201-203, 1 29-22-00Page 510 1 1 Config-1 May 01/05 1 1 1CES 1
(9) Turn the blades of the RAT until they are in line with the RAT leg. NOTE : If the blades are not exactly aligned, the indexing mechanism
____
will stop the retraction of the RAT.
(10)
Retract the RAT (Ref. TASK 29-22-00-869-002).
(11)
During the retraction of the RAT make sure that there is a clearance between the RAT, the link and the door.
(12)
Measure the gap "D":
-the gap "D" must be between 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0196 in.).
(13)
If the gap "D" is not correct:
-slacken one of the two locknuts (7),(9) (the locknut (7) has a left-hand thread),
