A. Installation of the Smoke Detector
WARNING : DO NOT TRY TO OPEN OR REPAIR THE SMOKE DETECTORS.
_______ THE DETECTOR CONTAINS RADIOACTIVE AMERICIUM 241 OF APPROXIMATELY 0.4 MICROCURIES. ONLY WORKSHOPS AUTHORIZED BY THE MANUFACTURER CAN DO WORK ON THE SMOKE DETECTORS.
NOTE : The installation procedure is the same for all the smoke

detectors.
(1)
Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(2)
Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(3)
Put the smoke detector (6) in position.
(4)
Install the washers (5) and the screws (4).
(5)
Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors.
(6)
Make sure that the electrical connectors are clean and in the correct condition.
(7)
Connect the electrical connector (3) to the smoke detector (6).
(8)
Put the grid in position (2).
(9)
Lock the quick release fasteners (1).

1. General
_______ (Ref. Fig. 001) A smoke detection system is installed to detect smoke and/or fire in the lavatories. The lavatory smoke detectors are installed in a loop system, together with the cargo-compartment smoke detectors. If smoke is detected, the system gives a visual and aural warning to the flight crew. This system is made-up of: - one smoke detector for each lavatory,
