 A. Test of the AFT Cargo Compartment System
 (1)
 When you press and hold the CARGO SMOKE/TEST pushbutton switch 13WH for more than 2 seconds:

 -the Smoke Detection Control Unit (SDCU) starts an automatic test of the smoke detectors.
 -smoke conditions are simulated.
 -fire extinguisher bottle pressure drop condition is simulated.

 (2)
 In the normal condition, the indications are as follows:

 -
the AFT SMOKE warning light on the CARGO SMOKE panel 22VU comes on.

 -
the MASTER WARNING lights on the glareshield panel 130VU come on.

 -
the Continuous Repetitive Chime (CRC) ist heard.

 -
the CARGO SMOKE message on the ECAM upper display unit comes on.

 -
the DISCH light on the CARGO SMOKE panel 22VU comes on.

 

 (3)
 When you release the CARGO SMOKE/TEST pushbutton switch 13WH:

 -
the DISCH indication light goes off with a time delay of approx. 2 seconds.

 -
the AFT SMOKE warning light goes off after approx. 10 seconds.

 -
the ECAM message goes off.

 -
the test stops after approx. 15 seconds.

 


 NOTE : When the test is started, the cargo compartment ventilation
____ system isolation valves close and the extraction fan stops. When the test stopped, the isolation valves open and the extraction fan starts.

 B. SDCU Power-up Test
 (1)
 Conditions of Power-up Test Initialization

 (a)
 Time that the computer must be de-energized:

 -200 ms.

 (b)
 A/C configuration:


 -whatever the A/C configuration is on ground.

 (2)
 Progress of Power-up Test

 (a)
 Time:

 -10 sec

 (b)
 Cockpit repercussions directly linked to power-up test accomplishment (some other repercussions may occur depending on the A/C configuration but these can be ignored):


 -none

 (3)
 Results of Power-up Test

 5. Test

 A. System Test
 (1) When you press the (PTT) pushbutton switch for more than 2 s a test of the smoke detectors is initiated. The SDCU tests the smoke detectors automatically. The indications are:
 -the FWD SMOKE and AFT SMOKE warning lights come on, twice for approx. 2 s, with a delay of approx. 5 s. in a normal condition.

 -
a wiring failure on the detector's bus system,

 -
a failure of one SDCU channel,


 -the respective SMOKE warning light does not come on, if both smoke
 detectors, installed in one cavity, do not operate. The test stops approx. 10 s after the PTT pushbutton switch is released. After the PTT pushbutton is pressed, the isolation valves of the cargo-compartment ventilation-system close and the extraction fan stops (Ref. 21-28-00). When the test stops, the isolation valves open and the extraction fan starts. The information is stored in the Centralized Fault Display System (CFDS).
 B. SDCU Power-up Test
 (1)
 Conditions of Power-up Test Initialization

 (a)
 Time that the computer must be de-energized:

 -200 ms.

 (b)
 A/C configuration:


 -whatever the A/C configuration is on ground.

 (2)
 Progress of Power-up Test

 (a)
 Time:

 -10 sec

 (b)
