R  B. Smoke Annunciator Lights 11WH, 12WH 
R  A FWD SMOKE annunciator light 11WH and an AFT SMOKE annunciator light 
R  12WH are installed on the cargo smoke panel 22VU. When smoke is detected 
R  the smoke detector transmits a signal to the CIDS-SDF via a controller 
R  area network (CAN) bus. The CIDS-SDF sets the related output and the 
R  SMOKE annunciator light comes on. 
R  C. Press-to-Test (PTT) pushbutton switch 13WH 
R  The (PTT) pushbutton switch together with the CIDS-SDF, permits an 
R  operational test of the cargo-compartment smoke-detection system. The PTT 
R  pushbutton switch is installed between the smoke annunciator lights on 
R  the cargo smoke panel 22VU. 
R  D. Smoke Detection Function CIDS-SDF 101RH and 102RH 
R  The CIDS-SDF controls the smoke-detection system. The Built-In Test 
R  Equipment (BITE) controls and monitors the detectors and interfaces with 
R  the Centralized Fault Display System (CFDS). It records the 
R  unsatisfactory components and system malfunctions.

R  A. Normal Operation 
R  Smoke detected in the cargo compartment will cause: 
R  - the related SMOKE warning light to come on, 
R  - the red light in the MASTER WARNING pushbutton switch to flash, 
R  - the aural repetitive chime to sound, 
R  - the ECAM upper display unit to show the messages: 
R  SMOKE FWD/AFT CARGO SMOKE 
R  ISOL VALVE (of affected compartment) ... OFF (if not automatically 
R  closed) 
R  AGENT ... DISCH . 
R  In the case of a smoke warning the isolation valves of the 
R  cargo-compartment ventilation system close automatically. They remain 
R  closed, independent of the smoke warning signals.
 **ON A/C 001-049, 051-099, 101-105, 151-199, 201-299,
 B. Operation with one Faulty Smoke Detector
 When only one detector sends an alarm, the SDCU checks the second
 detector automatically. If this test shows a normal function of the
 second detector, the result is no indication in the cockpit. The alarm of
 the detector is a false warning. If this test shows an abnormal function
 of the second detector, the warning signals come on (Ref. Para. 4.A). The
 alarm of the first detector is the correct warning.
