 (2)  Install the inlet cowl sling, if it is removed (Fig. 403).
 WARNING: IF THE CONTROL LEVER FOR THE RATCHET HOIST IS NOT PUSHED
_______ INTO THE NEUTRAL OR FREE POSITION, THE CONTROL LEVER CAN RELEASE THE LOAD. ONLY PERSONS WHO KNOW THE CORRECT INSTRUCTIONS TO OPERATE THE RATCHET HOISTS MUST OPERATE THEM. INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE INLET COWL CAN OCCUR IF THE INLET COWL FALLS.
 (a)  
You can install a ratchet hoist between the hoist and the sling to lift the inlet cowl by smaller quantities.

 (b)  
If the hoist has an adjustable load limit, adjust the limit to 794|10 pounds (360.9|4.5 Kg).

 (c)  
If the hoist does not have an adjustable load limit, install a dynamometer on the sling link.

 (d)  
Attach the hoist hook to the sling link or the dynamometer.

 (e)  
Put the sling above the inlet cowl to be installed.

 (f)  
Install the spindles in the receptacles for the inlet cowl hoist. 1) If the inlet cowl is put in storage in the nose up


 position, connect the strap with no ratchet hoist to the forward receptacle.
 2)  If the inlet cowl is put in storage in the nose down position, connect the strap with no ratchet hoist to the aft receptacle.
 3)  Install the remaining three spindles with the ratchet hoists to the inlet cowl.

WARNING:_______ MAKE SURE THE SPINDLES ARE TIGHTENED CORRECTLY. INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE INLET COWL CAN OCCUR IF THE SPINDLES LOOSEN WHEN THE INLET COWL IS LIFTED.
 4)  Tighten the spindles to 120 pound-inches (13.6 newton-meters).
 (3)  S 424-013-N00Install the inlet cowl on the engine flange A (Fig. 404). (a) Remove the strap on the inlet cowl from the platform. (b) Adjust the hoist and sling to tighten the straps. (c) Lift the inlet cowl until you get sufficient clearance to turn the inlet cowl. (d) Adjust the straps and turn the inlet cowl until it is approximately vertical. (e) Move the inlet cowl (1) to align it with the shear pins (5) on the engine flange A. (f) Push the inlet cowl (1) to the rear to engage the shear pins (5). (g) Attach the inlet cowl (1) to the engine flange A with the bolts (4), washers (3), and spacers (2).
 NOTE:____ There are 60 bolts which attach the inlet cowl.
 1)  Tighten the bolts (4) to 300-360 pound-inches (33.9-40.7 newton-meters).
 (4)  S 094-014-N00Disconnect the sling and the hoist (Fig. 403). (a) Remove the tension from the straps. (b) Remove the spindles from the inlet cowl. (c) Move the sling away from the inlet cowl. (d) Disengage the hoist hook from the sling link.
 (5)  S 434-022-N00Remove the caps from the PT2/TT2 line (5).
 (6)  S 434-015-N00Connect the PT2/TT2 line (5) to the inlet cowl (1) (Fig. 402).
 (7)  S 434-023-N00Remove the caps from the electrical connectors (1, 2, and 3).
 (8)  S 434-016-N00Connect the electrical connectors (1, 2, and 3) to the inlet cowl (Fig. 402).

Connect the TAI duct (4) for the fan case to the inlet cowl (Fig. 401).

 Install the TAI duct (1) for the inlet cowl if it is removed (Fig. 401).

 (a)  
Remove the caps from the ends of the TAI duct (1) and the TAI duct (4).

 (b)  
Install the gasket (3) into the external flange on the end of the TAI duct (4).

 (c)  
Put the ends of the TAI duct (1) and TAI duct (4) together and install the coupling (2). 1) Tighten the coupling nut to 85-100 pound-inches (9.6-11.3

 If the PT2/TT2 probe is not installed on the inlet cowl, install the PT2/TT2 probe (AMM 73-21-03/401).
