With heavy gloves on your hands, manually turn the fan in the normal direction of turn (counterclockwise as seen from the front). Make sure that the fan turns freely and that no damage is seen.
(c)
Remove the mats from the inlet cowl.

(5) Open the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-04/201).

(a) Make sure the rotor turns freely with no signs of damage.

(10) Visually make sure the engine inlet, the turbine exhaust, and the
2.9 bleed valves are not damaged.

Make sure that the engine inlet, turbine exhaust, and the 2.9 bleed valves do not contain metal particles.

Do a check of the main oil filter for contamination.
(a)
Remove the element from the main oil filter (AMM 79-21-05/401).
(b)
Examine the element for contamination.

(c) If there is contamination which shows an engine failure, do not ferry the engine with the engine free to turn.

(13) Do a check of the magnetic chip detector for contamination.
(a) Make sure the probes on the magnetic chip detector for the No. 1, 1.5, 2, 3, and 4 engine bearings are free of contamination (AMM 79-21-10/601).

(14) Disconnect the engine start valve.
(a)
Open this circuit breaker and install the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
1) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel
a) 6J18 ENG START AIR CONT
(b)
Disconnect the electrical connector, DV351, from the start valve.
(c)
Put a cap on the open ends of the electrical connector.
(d)
Attach the loose electrical plug to an adjacent line or cable.
(e)
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker:
1) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel
a) 6J18 ENG START AIR CONT

(15) Fill the engine oil tank (AMM 12-13-03/301).
