(c) Discard all vertical tension bolts (1, 2, and 12) with damage which you can feel with a fingernail or thread damage you can see.

Apply the antiseize compound to the threads and the shanks of the vertical tension bolts (1, 2, and 12) (Fig. 411).

Make sure you can tighten the self-locking torque of the barrel nuts (5) to a minimum of 70 pound-inches (7.9 newton meters) (Fig. 411).
(a) If the barrel nut cannot hold the minimum torque, replace and examine again the self-locking torque.

(5) Make sure you can tighten the self-locking torque of the nuts (9) to a minimum of 70 pound-inches (7.9 newton meters) (Fig. 411).

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ENGINE CONFIGURATION AND THE ENGINE
_______ DESIGNATION ON THE ENGINE IDENTIFICATION PLATE, INSTALLED ON FLANGE C ON THE FAN CASE, AGREE WITH EACH OTHER.
(1) Install the handling adapters (Fig. 409).
(a)
Install the forward handling adapters (19) to the engine fan case with the bolts (20) and washers (17).
(b)
Install the aft handling adapters (14) between the engine flanges with the pins (15) and the safety pins (16).

(2) Adjust the propulsion pod overhead sling with the steps that follow (4, Fig. 411B):
WARNING: ONLY PERSONS TRAINED IN THE USE OF THE HOIST SHOULD
_______ OPERATE THE CONTROLS. IF THE LEVER HOISTS ARE NOT USED CORRECTLY, INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(a) If the crane has an adjustable load limiter, adjust it for a load limit 1500 pounds (minimum) to 4000 pounds (maximum) more than the load to be lifted.
NOTE: The load that is lifted includes the engine and all
____ the ground support equipment lifted with the crane.
(b)
If the crane does not have an adjustable load limiter, install a dynamometer or load positioner (2) on the sling hoist link (3A) or sling hoist plate (3), as applicable.
(c)
Adjust the lever hoists (5) so they are almost fully retracted.
NOTE: You should extend the lever hoists if possible if
____ you have to make subsequent sling adjustments. This causes lighter loads during the adjustments.
1) Make sure the free end of the chain is in the chain keeper, if installed.
NOTE: If the chain keeper is not installed, make sure
____ the free end of the chain does not touch the engine.
