Install the aft top brackets (10 and 13) on the strut.
1) Tighten the bolts to 160-180 pound-inches (18.1-20.3 newton-meters).
(d)
Install the aft lower brackets (17 and 16) on the strut.
1) Tighten the bolts to 160-180 pound-inches (18.1-20.3 newton-meters).
(e)
Install the aft horizontal bracket (12) on the strut.
1) Tighten the bolts to 160-180 pound-inches (18.1-20.3 newton-meters).
(f)
Install the aft arm assembly (18) on the aft brackets (10 and 17).
WARNING: INSTALL THE LONGEST LENGTH BRACE AND ARM ASSEMBLIES ON THE
_______ OUTBOARD SIDE OF THE STRUT. INSTALL THE SHORTEST LENGTH BRACE AND ARM ASSEMBLIES ON THE INBOARD SIDE OF THE STRUT. IF THE BOOTSTRAP ARMS ARE INCORRECTLY INSTALLED, A BOOTSTRAP FAILURE CAN OCCUR AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(g)
Install the aft arm assembly (15) on the aft brackets (13 and 16).
(h)

(b) Put the forward lower support (8) into the bottom of the strut
fitting for the forward upper engine mount.
(c) Move the top of the forward lower support (8) forward for the
subsequent step.
(d) Put the forward top support (7) into the top of the forward
lower support (8).
(e) Move the forward top and forward lower supports (7 and 8) back
against the flange protector (6A).
(f) Move the clamps (7A) around the forward, top engine flange.
(g) Install the coupling rod (9) into the top support on each side
of the strut and turn it 1/4 of a turn.
1) Let the coupling rod (9) hang.
(h) Install the forward outboard and inboard arms (6 and 5) to the
forward lower support (8) and the coupling rod (9) with the
captive pins.
(i) Remove the top shackle.
(j) Attach the lug for the forward load cells (10) to the forward
inboard and outboard arms (5 and 6) with the captive pins.
NOTE: Point the forward load cells in the aft direction.____
(k) Attach the end of the forward 6-ton hoists (11) with the handle
to the forward load cells (10).
S 494-166-N00
CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE LOAD BE MORE THAN 2000 POUNDS ON THE AFT
_______ BOOTSTRAPS. YOU MUST FIRST ADD A LOAD ON THE FORWARD BOOTSTRAPS TO REMOVE THE LOAD FROM THE FORWARD DOLLY WHEELS BEFORE YOU ADD A LOAD TO THE AFT BOOTSTRAPS. SLOWLY ADD A LOAD TO THE FORWARD BOOTSTRAPS TO MAKE SURE THE DIFFERENCE IN THE LOAD BETWEEN THE INBOARD AND OUTBOARD BOOTSTRAPS IS NOT MORE THAN 2000 POUNDS DURING THE HOIST PROCEDURE. IF THE LOAD IS MORE THAN THE LOAD LIMIT, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND BOOTSTRAP EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(4) Align the transportation stand, with the cradle and power plant attached, below the strut with the steps that follow (Fig. 410):
NOTE: It is not necessary to fully hang the transportation stand
____ and the power plant. They will align in the correct position before they move off the ground.
