CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO CONTROL THE SLING WITHOUT TAG LINES.
_______ WITHOUT THE TAG LINES, THE SLING WILL PULL TOGETHER AT THE AFT END AND MAKE THE ENGINE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE OR AIRPLANE.
 (d)  
Attach the tag lines to the sling.

 (e)  
Move the engine with the cradle and transportation stand, below the strut.

 (f)  
Engage the crane hook (1) with the sling hoist plate, or dynamometer or load positioner if installed, and put the sling over the engine.

 (g)  
Align each forward support leg (7) with the forward handling adapter (19, Fig. 409) and install a shackle.

 (h)  
Align each aft support leg (8) on each aft handling adapter (14, Fig. 409) and install a shackle.

 (i)  
Install the protection pads.

 (j)  
Remove the cradle with the steps that follow (Fig. 409): 1) Remove the quick-release pins (18) from the forward engine

 supports. 2) Disengage the aft handling adapters (14).

 (k)  
Remove the slack from the support legs of the sling.


 CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE ENGINE MOVE IN THE PITCH OR ROLL DIRECTIONS
_______ WHEN YOU LIFT IT FROM THE TRANSPORTATION STAND. IF THE HOISTS HAVE AN INCORRECT LOAD OR THEY DO NOT MOVE FREELY BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND TRANSPORTATION STAND, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
 (l)  Lift the engine approximately 1 inch and adjust the sling as necessary to balance the load.
 NOTE: If the forward end moves upward first, extend the
____ lever hoist at the forward end. If the aft end moves upward first, extend the lever hoist at the aft end.

 (3)  
Lift the engine until it is clear of the transportation stand.

 (4)  
Lift the engine until you can see it aligned with the strut [approximately 6.0 inches (150 mm) below the strut].

 (a)  
Extend the inboard lever hoist at the forward end to rotate the engine as necessary.

 (b)  
Extend the lever hoist at the aft end to move the aft end of the engine down, as necessary.

 (5)  Connect the engine mounts with the steps that follow (Fig. 411):
 (a)  
Make sure the barrel nuts (5) and retainers (6) are removed from the aft end of the forward engine mount.

 (b)  
Lift the engine equally to do one of the two steps below:


 -Engage the shear pins of the forward and aft engine mount at the same time.
 -Let the forward pin go in the alignment hole 0.10 inch
 (2.5 mm) before the aft shear pins.
 NOTE: It will be necessary to move the engine about its
____ longitudinal axis approximately 5 to 7 degrees.
 (c)  Lift the engine until the mount surfaces are 1.00 inch (25 mm) or less apart. 1) Move the engine forward, rearward, left, or right, as
 necessary.
 CAUTION: YOU MUST INSTALL ONLY NEW VERTICAL TENSION BOLTS OR ONES
_______ THAT ARE EXAMINED FOR DAMAGE. IF YOU USE THE OLD VERTICAL TENSION BOLTS, FAILURE OF THE VERTICAL TENSION BOLTS CAN OCCUR AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE VERTICAL TENSION BOLTS ARE THE CORRECT
_______ LENGTH BEFORE YOU INSTALL THEM. IF YOU USE THE INCORRECT VERTICAL TENSION BOLT, DAMAGE TO THE VERTICAL TENSION BOLT AND NUT CAN OCCUR.
 (d)  Install the vertical tension bolts (1, 2, and 12) in the forward and the aft mount fitting as follows: 1) Lubricate the threads of the vertical tension bolts
 (1 , 2, and 12) with the antiseize compound.
 2)  Install the forward vertical tension bolts (1 and 2), countersunk washers (3), barrel nuts (5), and retainer (6) in the fitting on the forward engine mount.
 3)  Install the aft vertical tension bolts (12) and countersunk washers (11) in the aft mount fitting.
 4)  Install the deep socket and torque adapter of the torque equipment (A71003) on the vertical tension bolts (1, 2, and 12).
