LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains an operational test and a system test for the low oil pressure warning system. The operational test is done during the engine start and shutdown. It makes sure the system operates correctly after you replace the low oil pressure warning switch or warning light. The system test makes sure the system precision is satisfactory.

(1) Make sure these circuit breakers are closed:
(a) P6 Load Control Center 1) INDICATOR - MASTER DIM BUS (9 locations)

(2) With the engine stopped, make sure the amber LOW OIL PRESSURE light on the pilots center instrument panel, P2, is on.

WARNING:_______USE AMM 71-00-00/201 TO OPERATE THE POWER PLANT. IF YOU DO NOT USE THIS PROCEDURE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT OR INJURY TO PERSONS.

Use the Power Plant Operation (Normal) procedure to start the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201).

Monitor the LOW OIL PRESSURE light and oil pressure indicator.
(a)
The light must go off at or before the oil pressure is
15.25 psi.
(b)
The LOW OIL PRESSURE light must stay off during the engine operation.

(5) Use the Power Plant Operation (Normal) procedure to do the engine shut-down (AMM 71-00-00/201) while you monitor the Oil Pressure Indicator.
(a) The LOW OIL PRESSURE light must come on at or before the oil pressure decreases to 12.25 psi.

3. System Test - Low Oil Pressure Warning System_____________________________________________
A. Equipment
(1)
0-30 psi (0-200 kPa) adjustable dry air pressure source.
(2)
Air pressure gauge 0-50 psig (0-200 kPa), |2% accuracy.
(3)
Vent valve.
(4)
Shut-off valve.

(1) Open the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

WARNING:_______DO NOT LET THE ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN. IF THE ENGINE OIL STAYS ON YOUR SKIN, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
BE CAREFUL AROUND THE ENGINE OIL SYSTEM IMMEDIATELY AFTER ENGINE SHUT-DOWN. THE ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE STAYS HIGH FOR SOME TIME AFTER THE ENGINE SHUT-DOWN AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: IMMEDIATELY CLEAN OFF ALL ENGINE OIL THAT FALLS ON THE PAINTED
_______ SURFACES AND RUBBER PARTS OF THE AIRPLANE. THE SPECIFIED OIL FOR THIS OIL SYSTEM WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PAINTED SURFACES AND SOME TYPES OF RUBBER AND MUST NOT BE PERMITTED TO TOUCH THESE PARTS OF THE ENGINE.
USE VERY CLEAN CONTAINERS AND EQUIPMENT. OIL CONTAMINATION BY SMALL QUANTITIES OF SOME ALKALINE CLEANERS CAN CAUSE A FAILURE OF THE SYNTHETIC OIL.
