(b)  The forward drain hole.
 S 016-004-C00
 (2)  If you find oil leakage, open the right fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).
 (a)  Do a check for oil drops from the drain tubes.
 1)  If engine oil leakage from the accessory pad drains is more than the limits (AMM 71-71-00/601), do the applicable corrective action.
 2)  If there is an oil leak from the scupper drain of the oil tank, do the step that follows: a) Do a check of the filler cap for the oil tank for
 correct fit and defective o-ring seal (AMM 79-11-01/601).
 3)  If there is an oil leak from the forward sump drain that is more than the limits (AMM 71-71-00/601), replace the engine (AMM 71-00-02/401).
 S 216-008-C00
 (3)  Do a check for oil from the drain port of the aft sump on the bottom left side of the inner wall of the fan duct.
 (a)  If the oil leakage is more than the limits (AMM 71-71-00/601), do the High Oil Consumption trouble-shooting (AMM 71-00-44/101).
 NOTE: It is permitted for the exhaust and ground to be lightly
____ wet with oil. Some oil leakage is permitted after you motor the engine for a long time.

 (4)  Do a check of the center vent tube for leakage oil.
 (a)  
Remove the LPT plug.

 (b)  
Inspect the Center Vent Tube.


 1)  Use a bright light to look down the LPT shaft and forward end.
 NOTE: A borescope can be used if necessary.

 (c)  If you find leakage oil, replace the engine (AMM 71-00-02/401).
 NOTE: Oil wetting or puddling in the exhaust is serviceable.

 (5)  Do a check of the inner side of the turbine exhaust sleeve for oil on the turbine frame struts and the 4th-stage LPT blades.
 (a) If it is wet with oil, replace the engine (AMM 71-00-02/401).

 (6)  Do a check to see if the fan blades and 1st-stage vanes at the 6 o'clock position are wet with oil.
 (a)  If they are wet with oil, replace the engine (AMM 71-00-02/401).

Open the left and right fan cowl panels, if they are not open (AMM 71-11-02/201).

Do a check to see if the components that follow are wet with oil:

 (a)  
Fan cowl panels

 (b)  
Engine surfaces

 (c)  
Oil system components.

 (d)  
Transfer gear box and fan frame interface points.

 (9)  Do a check of the oil scavenge and supply tubes for damage or loose connections.
 NOTE: To do this, look for oil stripes and drops of oil.

 (a)  
Tubes and tube coupling nuts with cracks are not serviceable.

 (b)  
There is no limit to the number of nicks and scratches that are permitted thru .010 inch (0.25 mm) depth (after the high metal is removed).

 (c)  
Two dents for each tube are permitted if they are of a smooth contour thru 0.05 inch (1.3 mm) depth.

 (d)  
Loose nuts and bolts.

 (e)  
Nuts and bolts that are missing.

 (f)  
Loose or worn tube clamps.

 (10) Close the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).
