Do the indicator adjustment at all oil changes, when you change the indicator and when you change the engine.

When calibrated with the above procedure, the oil quantity indicator will show the useable quantity of oil in the tank.

 


 B.  Approximately 1-2 quarts of oil are in the engine sump.
 (1)  This oil is not useable by the engine and is not measured by the indicator system.

If you think the indication is incorrect, after the installation, the system test is necessary to calibrate the system again.

Make sure the engine oil tank is full (AMM 12-13-11/301).

Supply the electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).


 (a)  Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the BAT switch.

 (3)  Make sure these circuit breakers are closed:
 (a)  P6-2 Load Control Center 1) For Engine No. 1: a) AIRPLANES WITHOUT THE ENGINE INSTRUMENT SYSTEM (EIS); ENG 1 OIL QTY b) AIRPLANES WITH THE ENGINE INSTRUMENT SYSTEM (EIS); EIS SEC 1 2) For Engine No. 2: a) AIRPLANES WITHOUT THE ENGINE INSTRUMENT SYSTEM (EIS); ENG 2 OIL QTY
 b)  AIRPLANES WITH THE ENGINE INSTRUMENT SYSTEM (EIS); EIS SEC 3
 E.  AIRPLANES WITH OIL TEMPERATURE INDICATORS; (AIRPLANES WITHOUT THE ENGINE INSTRUMENT SYSTEM (EIS)); Do the Operational Test

 (1)  The oil quantity indicator must read 4.5 gallons for engine No. 1 or
 4.75 gallons for engine No. 2 (on airplanes with indicators graduated from 0 to 4 1/2 U.S. gallons) or 17 liters for engine No. 1 or 18 liters for engine No. 2 (on airplanes with indicators graduated from 0 to 18 liters).

 (2)  Push and hold the ENG OIL QTY TEST switch on the pilots center instrument panel P-2.
 (a)  The indicator pointer will start to move to zero.

 (3)  Release the ENG OIL QTY TEST switch.
 (a)  The indicator pointer will go back to its initial value.

 (4)  Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  P6-2 Load Control Center
 1) For Engine No. 1:
 a) ENG 1 OIL QTY

 2)  For Engine No. 2:
 a) ENG 2 OIL QTY

 (5)  
Make sure the indicator shows full.

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:


 (a)  P6-2 Load Control Center
 1) ENG 1 OIL QTY
 2) ENG 2 OIL QTY

 (7)  Remove the electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).
 (a)  Set the BAT switch on the Electrical Meters Battery and Galley Power Module (P5-13) to the OFF position and install a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
