 F. Prepare to Do the Calibration Test

 (1)  
Make sure the engine oil tank is full (AMM 12-13-11/301).

 S 865-080-C00

 (2)  
Supply the electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).


 (a)  Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the BAT switch.

 (3)  Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  P6-2 Load Control Center
 1) For engine No. 1:
 a) ENG 1 OIL QTY

 2)  For engine No. 2:
 a) ENG 2 OIL QTY

 (4)  Prepare the oil quantity indicators and test set for the calibration test (Fig. 503 and 504).
 (a)  
FOR THE SIMMONDS TESTER; Connect the tester CHASSIS jack to a good airframe ground (seal rail) with the ground cable given with the tester.

 (b)  
FOR THE GULL TESTER;
 Connect the tester GND jack to a good airframe ground (seal
 rail) with the ground cable given with the tester.


 (c)  
Turn the panel lights OFF.

 (d)  
Remove the oil quantity indicator to be calibrated from the
 panel.


 (e)  
Disconnect the electrical connector from the indicator jack.

 (5)  FOR THE SIMMONDS TESTER; Prepare the test set to examine the Oil Quantity Indicators:
 (a)  
Connect the "T" cable to the airplane electrical plug and the oil quantity indicator.

 (b)  
Make sure that the banana plugs and the coaxial BNC connector on the tester box at the center of the "T" cable are disconnected.


 NOTE: This disconnects the tank unit from the oil quantity
____
 indicator.

 (c)  
Connect the "T" coaxial cable lead marked "H" to the tester
 terminal marked INDICATOR-HIZ.


 (d)  
Connect the "T" coaxial cable lead marked "T" to the tester
 terminal marked INDICATOR-LOZ.


 (e)  
Connect the lead marked "C" to the tester terminal marked
 INDICATOR-COMP.


 (f)  
Set the FUNCT switch of the tester to the MEASURE INT position.

 (g)  
Set the SELECT switch to the TU position.

 (h)  
Turn the tester on and let it warm up for 3 minutes.

 (i)  
Adjust the TU SIMULATOR knob to read 21.4 pf on the LCD
 display.

 

 NOTE: This is the nominal compensator capacitance for an empty
____
 tank.

 (j)  Set the SELECT switch to the COMP position.
