(1)  Remove four screws securing hinge fittings to door at each end.
B.  Remove articulated hinge (Detail H)
(1)  Remove bolt securing each hangar strap to end of bin.
NOTE:  If inserts rotate in end panel, removal of the compartment may be required for access to inserts.
4.  Install Compartment Door and Articulated Hinge (Doors With Removable Pin)
A.  Install articulated hinge (Detail H).
(1)  Position hinge assembly and install bolts through hangar straps. Ensure that washer and small coil spring are installed.
B.  Install door (Section C-C)
(1)  
Position door and install four screws securing hinge fittings to door at each end.

(2)  
Adjust door clearance in lowered ceiling area, if necessary.

(a)  If bolt is installed in hole in lower leg of cylinder support link instead of adjacent empty slot (Detail H, Lowered Ceiling Area), remove bolt from hole and install in slot. Check that bolt moves freely along full length of slot.

(3)  
Adjust door edge alignment in open position, if necessary.


(a)  Loosen bolt securing outboard end of air cylinder to slot in upper end of cylinder support link. Hidden nut must be held with thin wrench (Detail H, Lowered Ceiling Areas).

5.  Remove Compartment Door and Articulated Hinge (Doors With Quick-Release Cam)
NOTE:  The door and articulated hinge assemblies may be removed with the compartment installed or removed.
A.  Remove door (Section D-D)
(1)  Remove four screws securing hinge fittings to door at each end.
B.  Remove articulated hinge (Detail K)
(1)  Remove three bolts from slotted holes in hinge frame.
NOTE:  If inserts rotate in end panel, removal of the compartment may be required for access to inserts.
6.  Install Compartment Door and Articulated Hinge (Doors With Quick-Release Cam)
A.  Install Articulated hinge (Detail K)
(1)  Position hinge assembly and install bolts through slotted holes.
B.  Install door (Section D-D)
(1)  Position door and install four screws securing hinge fittings to door at each end. Center bolts in slots.
7.  Remove Carry-All Compartment (Fig. 201)
A.  General
(1)  
Three men are required to support compartment and perform simultaneous operations.

(2)  
If several adjacent compartments are removed, identify each to ensure return to same location.

(3)  
Do not change length of any turnbuckle. Any change to turnbuckle will cause interference or misalignment of compartments.


B.  Remove compartment.
(1)  
Remove horizontal trim strip below door (Section A-A) by lifting slightly and pulling bottom of strip inboard.

(2)  
Remove vertical trim strips (Detail C) between compartments by sliding strips upwards out of tracks. Considerable hand pressure may be required.

(3)  
Where installed, remove splice bar and filler channel from PSU support beam (Detail G).

(4)  
Remove bolts and locking plugs from compartment outboard fittings on outboard lower corners of compartments (View 1).

(5)  
Remove bolts securing lower ends of diagonal turnbuckles only and move turnbuckles clear of fitting. Leave short turnbuckle attached to support weight of compartment (See view 1 for attach points).

(6)  
Support weight of compartment and accomplish following steps.

(a)
Remove bolt securing lower end of short turnbuckle to outboard fitting.

(b)  
Slide compartment outboard fitting along track segment of adjacent compartment until fitting is clear of compartment to be removed.

(c)  
Withdraw slide bolts (Detail F) located under inboard edge of compartment from adjacent compartments. Bolts may require driving force, use care to avoid damage.

CAUTION:  RELEASE PIN IN END OF SLIDE BOLT MUST BE HELD IN DEPRESSED POSITION DURING REMOVAL OF BOLT.

(d)  
Lower compartment slightly and remove any previously inaccessible wire clips.

 

(7)  
Remove three bolts which secure each inboard upper corner of compartment to overhead structure support plates (Detail E).

(8)  
Secure outboard fittings to track segments and re-install fasteners as required to prevent loss of parts.
