4.  Overhead Stowage Compartments (Carry-All Compartments)
A.  Overhead stowage is provided by carry-all compartments located over the passenger seats along each side of the cabin. The compartments are installed in standard lengths of 20, 40, 60 and 65 inches.
B.  Each compartment has an upward opening door supported in the open position by a hinge linkage actuated by a small gas pressure cylinder.
5.  Overhead Stowage Compartments (NIP Bins or Wide-Body Interior)
A.  The overhead stowage compartments are installed over the passenger seats along each side of the cabin between the ceiling panels and the passenger service units (Fig. 1). The stowage compartments are installed in short (20 and 25 inches) and long (40 inches) sizes to match the length of the curved ceiling panels and the inboard faces of the compartments are shaped to blend with the contours of the curved ceiling panels (Fig. 2).
B.  The compartments are hinged at the bottom and open inboard to allow articles to be placed inside or removed. A shroud is provided behind the compartment to retain stowed articles in the compartment. The compartment is opened by pulling inboard on a single latch handle installed in the center of the compartment. A snubber is provided to lower the compartment at a controlled rate and to act as a stop in the open position. On the long (40 inches) stowage compartments a limiting cable is installed to provide a stop at the end opposite the snubber.
6.  Overhead Stowage Compartments (ATI Interior)
A.  Overhead stowage for coats and carry-on items, is provided by bins located over the passenger seats along each side of the cabin. The stowage bins are in lengths generally 14 to 30, 40, 50 or 60 inches.
B.  Each compartment has an upward opening door, supported in the open position by a hinge linkage actuated by a small spring-loaded dampened actuator.
7.  Class Partition
A.  In the mixed class configuration, a class partition is installed across the cabin to form the divider for passenger classification. A curtain is installed across the aisle between the partitions.

FORWARD LEFT WINDSCREEN - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
EFFECTIVITY
Airplanes With Forward Left Windscreen
1.  General
A.  On Windscreens with upper unit
(1)  
Windscreen consists of upper and lower units held together by support clips, a wedge shaped slide along their mating surfaces and by quickly removable locking pins.

(2)  
The upper unit is readily removable to allow loading of stretchers into the passenger cabin through the forward entry door.


2.  Removal/Installation Windscreen Units (Fig. 401)
A.  Remove Upper Unit, if applicable
(1)   
Remove loose items from upper unit.

(2)  
Immediately inside door of lower unit pull locking pins from support fittings.

NOTE:  Center plug of locking pin must be held in depressed position to retract retaining balls at tip of pin.

(3)  
Pull upper unit inboard until upper support, and wedges along mating surfaces of upper and lower units are disengaged. Remove upper unit from area.


B.  Remove Windscreen
(1)  
Open circuit breakers, NO SMOKING and FASTEN SEAT BELT on panel P18.

(2)  
Remove loose items from lower unit.

(3)  
Disconnect electric wire bundle at outboard side of windscreen unit.

(4)  
Open inboard and front doors for access and remove nuts from floor track studs.

(5)  
Lift lower unit of windscreen from floor track studs and remove unit from area.

(6)  
Remove locking plates and studs from floor tracks.

(7)  
If desired, (and applicable) lower curved ceiling panel and remove upper support fitting. Raise curved ceiling panel.


C.  Install Windscreen
(1)  
If removed, install upper support fitting and raise curved ceiling panel.

(2)  
Insert studs in floor tracks and install locking plates.

(3)  
Position windscreen and lower on floor track studs.

(4)  
Install nuts on floor track studs.

(5)  
Connect electric wire bundle at outboard side of windscreen unit.

(6)  
Close circuit breakers NO SMOKING and FASTEN SEAT BELT on panel P18.
