Operation of the stowage bin must be checked after installation and adjustment of the striker are checked, to ensure the bin latches engage both strikers simultaneously when the bin is closed (Ref 25-25-311, R/I).
B. Adjust overhead stowage bin latch striker plates.
(1) Check gap between striker plate and latch at each end of bin, as shown in Fig. 501, or adjust in accordance with following steps.
(a)
Loosen attaching screws securing striker plate.
(b)
Locate striker adjustment template on stow bin hinge pin 1, left side. Seat striker template on striker.
(c)
Torque screws loosened in step (a) to 15 in. lbs.
(d)
Repeat above steps for right side striker.
(e)
If pawl fails to snap into latched condition after the above procedure due to interference with closure assy, open door, loosen closure panel fasteners and adjust closure panel position to provide stow bin door clearance. Retorque all fasteners and recheck.
NOTE: Vertical trim seal located between stow bins must not interfere with action of stow bin door.
C. Adjust overhead stowage bin latch handle.
(1) Check that face of handle is parallel with face of bin, as shown in Fig. 501, or adjust in accordance with following steps:
(a)
Open stowage bin.
(b)
Remove latch cover to gain access to latch adjustment setscrew.
(c)
Adjust setscrew to bring face of handle parallel with face of bin.
(d)
Install latch cover.
(e)
Close stowage bin.

OVERHEAD STOWAGE BIN - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
EFFECTIVITY
ATI Interior
1. General
A. This procedure covers the overhead stowage bins, referred to as ATI (Advanced Technology Interior) bin, located on each side of the passenger cabin above the passenger seats. Instructions and illustrations describe a typical installation. Individual bins vary in size, 40 or 60 inches in the constant section and some multiple of same for the variable section.
2. Remove Overhead Stowage Bin (Fig. 401)
A. Remove ceiling panels mounted on stowage bin (Ref 25-21-341; 25-21-351/352;
25-21-361/362).
B. Remove fluorescent light, if installed, (Ref 33-21-0) and disconnect electrical connector.
C. Remove PSU and spacer panels to gain access to lower supports.
D. Remove screws on outboard side of bullnose, remove emergency aisle light (Ref 33-22-71) or zone temperature sensor, (Ref 21-61-31) if installed, and remove bullnose.
E. Remove alignment pins between adjacent stowage bins.
F. Remove bolts to disconnect turnbuckles at lower, outboard side of stowage bin.
G. Support stowage bin and remove bolts to disconnect upper turnbuckles.
H. Remove overhead stowage bin.
3. Install Overhead Stowage Bin (Fig. 401)
A. Position overhead stowage bin between adjacent stowage bins or structure and install alignment pins.
B. Install bolt, washers, and nut to attach each turnbuckle.
C. Adjust turnbuckles to support stowage bin weight while maintaining alignment with adjacent stowage bins.
D. Install ceiling panels (Ref 25-21-341, 25-21-351/352, 25-21-361/362)
E. Install fluorescent light, if required (Ref 33-21-0).
F. Attach inboard edge of bullnose to extrusion.
G. Install emergency aisle light (Ref 33-22-71) or zone temperature sensor (Ref 21-61-31), if required.
H. Raise bullnose and install screws.
I. Install PSU and spacer panels (Ref 25-23-11).
