Deactivate oxygen generator by installing safety pin (Detail A) (Ref 35-21-11, MP).
WARNING: TO PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONNEL, ENSURE THAT SAFETY PIN WITH WARNING FLAG IS PROPERLY INSTALLED ON GENERATOR.
(3)
Remove fasteners inside unit near inboard edge.
(4)
Move unit inboard and disconnect electrical connector; remove unit.
B. To install:
(1)
Connect electrical connector and insert unit into cutout in ceiling panel.
(2)
Install fasteners securing unit to panel.
(3)
Activate oxygen generator by removing safety pin (Detail A) (Ref. 35-12-11, MP).
CAUTION: ENSURE SAFETY PIN IS REMOVED, SO GENERATOR WILL BE OPERATIVE IN EMERGENCY.
(4)
Repack oxygen masks (Ref 35-22-31, MP).
4. Restore airplane to normal
A. Close OXYGEN SYSTEM circuit breakers PASS R and L on P-18 panel.

PASSENGER SERVICE UNIT - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
EFFECTIVITY
Wide-Body Look Interior
1. General
A. This section provides instructions to lower and raise (par. 2 and 3), or remove and install (par. 4 and 5) the passenger service unit (PSU).
B. Lowering the PSU provides access to equipment installed on PSU or in sidewall.
C. Each section of a three-piece PSU is lowered and raised in the same manner as the one-piece unit.
2. Lower Passenger Service Unit (Fig. 201)
A. Release latches at inboard corners of PSU secured by quarter-turn fasteners.
(1)
Insert small screwdriver into hole near each inboard corner of PSU.
NOTE: Exercise care not to scratch surface of PSU around latch access holes.
(2)
Support PSU and rotate each latch one quarter turn to release.
B. Release latches at inboard corners of PSU secured by hinged latches.
(1)
Insert small rod or similar tool into hole near each inboard corner of PSU.
NOTE: Exercise care not to scratch surface of PSU around latch access holes.
(2)
Support PSU and push upward with rod to release latch.
C. Lower PSU until it is supported by lanyard.
D. Lower spacer panel if access behind spacer panel is required.
(1)
On panels supported by bridge assemblies, remove screw or spring pin attaching each inboard corner of panel to bridge assembly and lower spacer panel.
(2)
When bridge assemblies are not used, release support spring(s) at inboard panel corners and release hinged latches as in step B and lower panel.
3. Raise Passenger Service Panel (Fig. 201)
A. If lowered, raise and secure spacer panels in closed position.
(1)
On panels supported by bridge assemblies, raise spacer panels and install screw or spring pin to attach each inboard corner of panel to bridge assembly.
(2)
When bridge assemblies are not used, raise panel and snap panel support spring(s) onto support angle. Check that hinged latches are securely hooked onto support angle (detail C).
