E. Check low pressure oxygen system for open connections and leakage (Ref. Chapter 35, Passenger Oxygen System).
F. Raise PSU part way and engage intermediate lanyard hook, continue to raise to closed position. Ensure that service lines are not kinked or pinched.
G. Ensure that latches are securely hooked on carry-all compartment beam.
H. Close circuit breakers opened in step 4A.
6. Adjust PSU and Spacer Panels (Fig. 201)
A. Lower PSU (Ref par. 2 and Fig. 201).
B. Insert 1/8-inch allen wrench into latch release hole and loosen adjustment bolt approximately one full turn.
C. Close PSU and listen for click indicating that the latch is properly hooked.
D. Tighten adjustment bolt finger-tight until PSU is against stops. Do not over tighten.
E. Ensure that PSU is latched by pulling down on corner. If unlatched repeat procedure.
F. If seats have been relocated adjust reading lights (Ref 33-20-13 MP).

PASSENGER SERVICE UNITS - CLEANING/PAINTING
1. Passenger Service Units Cleaning
A. General
(1)
It is important to use only the cleaning detergents listed below to clean passenger service units and spacer panels. Use of improper cleaning materials may cause damage (crazing or cracking) to the plastic materials of the passenger service unit and spacer panels.
(2)
Before using any cleaning material not listed below submit the proposed material to a Polycarbonate Crazing Test (Ref Overhaul Manual, Chapter 20-30-03).
B. Equipment and Materials (Ref 20-30-31)
(1)
Cleaning detergent, any of the following:
(a)
High Concentrate 40.1 (Mix 1 part cleaner to 32 parts water).
(b)
Spraywhite E (Mix 1 part cleaner to 10 parts water).
(c)
Clean Quick (Mix 1 part cleaner to 64 parts water).
(d)
Orvus W.A. Paste (Mix 1 part cleaner to 30 parts water).
(e)
Glo Do-All Formula 3B (Mix 1 part cleaner to 30 parts water).
(f)
Glo Do-All Formula 1B (Mix 1 part cleaner to 20 parts water).
(2)
Clean, dry cloths or absorbent paper toweling
(3)
Plastic spray bottle or sponge
C. Clean Passenger Service Units
(1)
Apply one of detergent solutions listed in par. B by spray or by sponge dampened in solution.
CAUTION: SOME SURFACES MAY BE DAMAGED (CRACKED) BEYOND REPAIR BY USING IMPROPER CLEANING MATERIALS.
(2)
Allow detergent solution to remain on surface approximately 2 minutes then wipe with damp cloth.
(3)
Rinse surface with a clean cloth saturated with clean water.
(4)
Wipe dry with clean, dry cloth.

1. General
A. This section covers removal/installation of PSU's and spacer panels.
2. Equipment and Materials
A. Firing Pin Retraction Equipment - A35001-1
3. Prepare for Removal
A. Remove electrical power (Ref 24-22-0 MP).
4. Remove PSU (Fig. 201)
WARNING: PSU ASSEMBLY INCLUDES AN OXYGEN GENERATOR, WHICH IS A PYROTECHNIC-ACTIVATED, HIGH-HEAT-PRODUCING UNIT CAPABLE OF INFLICTING SERIOUS BURNS.
IF RELEASE PIN IS PULLED AND GENERATOR FIRES, DO NOT CONTINUE TO
WORK OR ATTEMPT TO REMOVE GENERATOR. THE GENERATOR SURFACE
TEMPERATURE WILL APPROACH 4750F AND TAKE ABOUT 60 MINUTES TO
COOL ENOUGH FOR SAFE HANDLING.
A. Lower PSU
(1)
To release latches, insert small allen wrench or other suitable tool in access holes.
(2)
Partially lower PSU and disconnect lanyard.
(3)
Allow PSU to swing down to fully-open position.
B. Deactivate oxygen generator and install safety pin (detail B) (Ref 35-21-11).
WARNING: TO PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONNEL, ENSURE THAT SAFETY PIN WITH WARNING FLAG IS PROPERLY INSTALLED ON DEACTIVATED GENERATOR.
C. Disconnect gasper air duct and electrical connector.
D. Support PSU and disconnect lanyard from support structure (detail A).
E. Push plungers on clamps (section A-A) to release hinge points from air outlet extrusion; remove PSU.
