B. Push PSU up and outboard as required to ensure that outboard edge of unit rests on top of air outlet extrusion flange. Raise PSU to closed position.
CAUTION: OUTBOARD EDGE OF PSU MUST REST ON TOP OF AIR OUTLET EXTRUSION FLANGE WHEN PSU IS RAISED AND CLOSED. CLOSING PSU WITH OUTBOARD EDGE TRAPPED AGAINST OR BELOW AIR OUTLET EXTRUSION FLANGE MAY DAMAGE PSU OR CAUSE INTERFERENCE WITH ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
C. Secure PSU with quarter-turn latches at inboard corners.
(1)
Hold PSU closed and insert small screwdriver into hole near each upper corner.
NOTE: Exercise care not to scratch surface of PSU around latch access holes.
(2)
Rotate each latch one quarter turn to lock.
D. On PSU’s with hinged latches at inboard corners, check that latches are securely hooked onto support angle.
4. Remove Passenger Service Unit (Fig. 201)
A. Open the following circuit breakers on panel P18.

B. Lower PSU until unit is supported by lanyard (Ref par. 2).
C. Disconnect and cap air, oxygen, and electrical connections.
NOTE: Oxygen line caps type B and C should be tightened with fingers to a torque of 7 to 10 pound-inches. Oxygen line caps type A should be tightened to a torque of 120 to 130 pound-inches.
D. Remove oxygen line clamp from air conditioning outlet extrusion.
E. Support PSU and unhook lanyard from around support angle.
F. Remove pins that secure PSU to outboard support clamps or bridge assembly.
(1)
On PSU’s with straight pin type attachment, remove attaching pin, washer, and cotter pin.
(2)
On PSU’s with spring pin type attachment, squeeze open spring portion of pin and withdraw pin.
CAUTION: SUPPORT PSU WHILE REMOVING PINS TO AVOID POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO PINS OR PIN SUPPORT.

G. Remove PSU.
H. Remove adjacent spacer panels.
(1)
Lower spacer panel and adjacent PSU’s (Ref par. 2).
(2)
Disconnect adjacent spacer panel and PSU from outboard clamp.
(a)
On spacer panels with straight pin type attachment, remove attaching pin, washer, and cotter pin securing adjacent PSU and spacer panel to outboard clamp.
(b)
On spacer panels with spring pin type attachment, squeeze open spring portion of pin and withdraw pin from outboard clamp.
I. When bridge assemblies are installed, loosen bolt on inboard and outboard clamp of each bridge assembly and remove both bridges.
J. When bridge assemblies are not installed, depress plunger on each outboard support clamp, disengage clamp from sidewall air outlet and remove clamps.
K. If PSU is not to be reinstalled, check low pressure oxygen system for leakage and open connections (Ref Chapter 35, Passenger Oxygen System).
5. Install Passenger Service Unit (Fig. 201)
A. Equipment and Materials
(1) Lubricant - MS122 (Ref 20-30-21)
B. If required, install bridge assemblies between air conditioning outlet extrusion and support angle.
(1)
Place forward bridge in position on air conditioning outlet extrusion and support angle.
(2)
Engage index pin on outboard clamp with one of holes in air conditioning outlet extrusion. Hole selected should locate forward end of passenger service unit 28.00 ±4.00 inches forward of intersecting line of seat cushion and seat back.
(3)
Install aft bridge assembly approximately 27 inches aft of forward bridge and tighten bolt on inboard and outboard clamps of both bridge assemblies.
C. When bridge assemblies are not required, install outboard support clamps on sidewall air outlet.
NOTE: Clamp at forward end of PSU has button on plunger to engage holes in air outlet. Clamp at aft end of service unit has no locating button.
(1)
Install clamps to support outboard edge of PSU.
(a)
Depress plunger on clamp and place clamp on sidewall air outlet.
(b)
Release plunger to hold clamp to outlet.
(2)
Locate clamps.
(a)
Position forward clamp so that with locating button engaged with hole in outlet, aft end of PSU will be located 1 ±0.50 inch forward of intersection of seat cushion and seat back.
