4. Procedure

A. Installation of the HCU Bracket, Hydraulic Line Middle Bracket and
Interface Bracket:
(1) Installation of the HCU bracket:
(a) Remove the protective covers from the pipe ends.
(b) Attach the HCU bracket to the hydraulic control unit with the bolts. (Ref. Fig. 422/TASK 78-31-49-991-323)
(c) TORQUE the nuts to between 61 and 70 lbf.in (0.68 and 0.79 m.daN).
(d) Connect the actuator rod supply pipe to the HCU bracket.
(e) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 370 and 410 lbf.in (4.18 and
4.63 m.daN).
(f) Connect the actuator head supply pipe to the HCU bracket.
(g) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 610 and 700 lbf.in (6.89 and
7.91 m.daN).
(h) Connect the lower blocker door supply pipe to the HCU bracket.
(i) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 260 and 300 lbf.in (2.93 and
3.39 m.daN).

(j) Connect the interface hydraulic hoses to the HCU bracket.
(k) TORQUE the interface hydraulic hose connected to the lower blocker door supply pipe to between 113 and 125 lbf.in (1.27 and
1.41 m.daN).
(l) TORQUE the interface hydraulic hose connected to the actuator head supply pipe to between 540 and 560 lbf.in (6.10 and 6.32 m.daN).
(m) TORQUE the interface hydraulic hose connected to the actuator rod supply pipe to between 270 and 300 lbf.in (3.05 and 3.39 m.daN).
(n) Connect the electrical harness to the HCU bracket with the clamp, the bolt and the nut.
(o) TORQUE the nut to between 30 and 40 lbf.in (0.33 and 0.45 m.daN).
(2) Installation of the hydraulic line middle bracket:
(a) Apply a layer of blendexite RT342/2 (Material No. CP2318) on the mating surface of the middle bracket.
(b) Attach the bracket to the forward frame with the bolts and the nuts. (Ref. Fig. 423/TASK 78-31-49-991-324)
(c) TORQUE the nuts to between 61 and 70 lbf.in (0.68 and 0.79 m.daN).
(d) Connect the rod supply junction pipe to the middle bracket.
(e) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 370 and 410 lbf.in (4.18 and
4.63 m.daN).
(f) Connect the head supply junction pipe to the middle bracket.
(g) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 610 and 700 lbf.in (6.89 and
7.91 m.daN).
(h) Connect the rod supply pipe to the middle bracket.
(i) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 235 and 260 lbf.in (2.65 and
2.93 m.daN).
(j) Connect the head supply pipe to the middle bracket.

(k) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 450 and 500 lbf.in (5.08 and
5.65 m.daN).
(l) Attach the upper head shield to the bracket with the upper half clamp, the washer and the bolts.
(m) TORQUE the bolts to between 27 and 30 lbf.in (0.30 and 0.33 m.daN).
NOTE : Apply a witness line of finish paint EA4 blue 5991
____ (Material No. CP2245) on all nuts and connections after they are torqued.
(3) Remove the SAFETY SLEEVE - PIVOTING DOOR ACTUATOR (HIX3005) without making the thrust reverser operational (Ref. TASK 78-32-41-480-001).
(4) Installation of the Interface Bracket:
(a) Remove the protective covers from the pipe ends.
(b) Attach the interface bracket to the forward frame with the bolts. (Ref. Fig. 423/TASK 78-31-49-991-324)
(c) TORQUE the bolts to between 70 and 80 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.90 m.daN).
(d) Connect the rod supply pipe to the interface bracket.
(e) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 235 and 260 lbf.in (2.65 and
2.93 m.daN).
