R 1_ Place the "J" Ring Check Tool TBD (HIX3010-0) onto the "V"
R Blade of the "J" Ring.
R 2_ Check the gap between the tool and the forward face of the "V"
R blade using 0.010 in. (0.250 mm) thickness gauge. If it is
R greater than 0.010 in. (0.250 mm) replace the "J" Ring (Ref.
R CMM 78-32-35).
R 3_ Check the gap between the tool and the rear face of the "V"
R blade using 0.005 in. (0.125 mm) thickness gauge. If it is
R greater than 0.005 in. (0.125 mm) replace the "J" Ring (Ref.
R CMM 78-32-35).

R D. Outer Flange Check
R (1) Damage less than the check tool length.
R NOTE : Only the damages under check tool length can be checked with
____ R check tool. A "V" groove clear area is necessary at each R extremity of the check tool.
R (a) Place the Outer Flange Check Tool TBD (HIX3011-0) into the "V"
R groove of the outer flange.
R (Ref. Fig. 607/TASK 78-36-42-991-323)
R 1_ Check the gap between the tool and the forward face of the "V"
R groove using 0.010 in. (0.250 mm) thickness gauge. If it is
R greater than 0.010 in. (0.250 mm), replace the adapter ring
R outer flange (Ref. TASK 78-36-42-000-001).
R NOTE : If more than three outer flanges are affected by half
____ R thrust reverser, replace the five outer flanges R (Ref. TASK 78-36-42-000-001).
R 2_ Check the gap between the tool and the rear face of the "V"R groove using 0.005 in. (0.125 mm) thickness gauge. If it is R greater than 0.005 in. (0.125 mm) replace the adapter ring R outer flange (Ref. TASK 78-36-42-000-001), or repair the R adapter ring outer flange (Ref. ESM 71-00-01).
R NOTE : If more than three outer flanges are affected by half
____ R thrust reverser, replace the five outer flanges R (Ref. TASK 78-36-42-000-001).
