5. Removalof AileronControlCables (Figure 401)
(a)
Removepilot and leftpassengerseatsbehindmainsparcarrythrough.
(b)
Removeleftfloor panelsfrombehindcontrolcolumnbackto Station 174.0or approximately34
inchesbehindmainsparcarrythrough. If necessary,movethe affectedpassengerseatso rightfloor panelandcenterpanelscan be removedat samestation.
(c)
Removefairleadsfromwingsat Station 121.5and 58.5,andremovefairleadsfrom where aileroncablesgo throughfuselageat fairleadpan,Station173.0.
(d)
Removeaccessplatesunderwing alongfrontof rear spar at WingStations92.5, 121.0,and
183.0. Also removethreeplatesat rear of wheelwellandon undersideof wing fillet.
(e) Toremoveleftbalancecable,proceedas follows:
(1.) In leftwing at bellcrank,removesafetywireor clip fromaftturnbuckle;disconnectcable. (2.) Removefairleadsat Wing Stations58.5 and 121.5 and removecableguardpinsat WingStations0.5, 30.9,and 147.5. (3.) Infuselage,removesafetywire or clipfromaft turnbuckleat Station 172.0;disconnect
cables.
(4.) Markcable endto facilitateinstallation.
(5.) Pullcable endto facilitateinstallation.
(f) Removethe rightbalancecableas follows:
(1.) In rightwing at bellcrank, removesafetywirefromaft turnbuckleand disconnectcable.
(2.) Disconnectturnbuckleat FuselageStation172.0.
(3.) Removefairleadsand cableguardpinsas described for leftwing.
(4.) Markcableto facilitateinstallation.
(5.) Carefullypull cable fromaircraft.
(g) Removeleftprimarycableasfollows:
NOTE: Whenremovinginboardsectionwhichleadsfromcontrolsectorto turnbuckleat Station142.0or outboardsectionwhichleadsto the bellcrankfromturnbucklesonly usedirectionsleadingto orfrom Station142.0.
(1.) In leftwing at bellcrank,removesafetywireor clip fromturnbuckleanddisconnectcable. (2.) RemoveprimarycontrolcablefairleadsatWingStations121.5and 58.5,cableguardpins at WingStations0.5,30.0, 147.5,and at FuselageStations164.51and 112.48. (3.) Removesafetywire andscrewsecuringretainerplateand cableend to sector;disconnect cablefrom sector. (4.) At Station155.0,drawcablesfromwingand insidefuselage.

5. Removal of Aileron Control Cables (continued)
(h) To remove right aileron cable, use basically the same procedure as the left. The only differencefor the right cable system is that pulley locations aft of sector are different. The right system'sfirst pulley from sector is at Station 101.07. One is at Station 164.51 where cable turns toward wing and goes under another pulley at Station 168.0. The inboard and outboard sectionsare still divided by a tumbuckle at Station 142.0.
6. Installation of Aileron Control Cables (Figure 401)
NOTE: When all fairleads and cable guard pins are removed, and only the inboard or outboard sectionof cable is to be installed, follow instructionsfor the specific section from either side of turnbuckles at Station 142.0 and on.
(a) Install left primary cable as follows:
(1.) At bellcrank in left wing, fasten tumbuckle fork to forward arm of bellcrank.
(2.) Carefully feed cable through pulleys in wiring at Stations 147.5, 30.0, and 0.5 and around pulleyat wing root (Fuselage Station 170.03, Buttock Line 28.58). Angle slightly forward through forward hole in fairlead pan assembly and around port pulley at Fuselage Station
164.51. (3.) If full cable is being rigged, feed cable forward around pulley at Fuselage Station 112.48
and to left side of upper control sector. (4.) Fasten cable end to aileron control sector by screwing on retainer and safety wiring.
(b) Installrightprimarycableas follows:
(1.) Connect tumbuckle fork to forward arm of bellcrank in right wing.
(2.) Route cable through pulleysin right wing as previously described for left wing.
(3.) Again feed cable through forward hole in fairlead pan assembly, Waterline 16.81.
(4.) At a slight angle forward, route cable from pan inboard to a pulley at Fuselage Station
168.0. Feed cable under and around pulley to rear pulley at Station 164.51 and around it. (5.) If both sections are being installed, route cable forward to pulley at Station 101.07, around its left side, through bulkhead at Station 100 and onto right side of aileron control sector.
(6.) Fasten cable end to control sector by screwing on cable retainer plate and safety wiring themto sector.
(c) Install left and right balance cables as follows:
(1.) Connect cablesto aft arm of individual bellcranks. Verify, if applicable, that red painted cable terminals on aileron balance cables are installed to red painted lugs on aileron bellcranksin wings.
