necessaryto use slings or airbags for the initiallifting procedure.
If wing and fuselage shoring is required, besure support is contoured to conform to the surface it
upholds.

B. Jacking(Figures 1 and 2)
NOTE: Jacking mustbe done in a wind protectedarea on a level surface.
The lifting arrangementfor the PA-42-720 (Advanced Trainer)consistsof a jacking pad on each wing, outboardof the nacells, a nose padforward of the nose gearand a removable tail jacking padwhich attachesin front of the tail tie-down ring (Figure 1). Adjustable 25 inch tripod jacks must be used. Eightton capacity wing jacks and two ton capacitynose and tail jacks are recommended forthe following procedure:
(1)
Mounttailjackingpad(shown in Figure 1).

(2)
Temporarilyalign jacks under their respectivejack pads.

(3)
Pump jacks up to pads. While jacking, realign jacksas necessary. Ensurejackheads fit properly with their pads and jacks are not slanted.

(4)
Carefullyraisewing and nose jacks until all wheelsclear the surface;maintaina level airplane.

CAUTION: CARE MUST BE USED IN APPLYING PRESSUREAT THE TAIL JACKING PAD. EXCESSIVELOADS CAN DAMAGE THE AIRCRAFTSTRUCTURE.

(5)
Raisetailjack to maintain contact with tail jacking pad.

Whensupportingthe aircraft at points otherthanjackingpads, loads mustbe carefullydistributedto avoidoverstressinglocalstructures. To shore fuselageand wings, usewoodencontourblocksas shownin Figure 7-3. The fuselage is supported by a single blockat Fuselage Station(F.S.)93.0. A pair of blocks at F.S. 297.38 and 310.0 are mounted togetheron a transversepivotat F.S. 304.0 to equallydistribute weight of the aft fuselage. The wing is supported by single blocks as Wing Station (W.S.)30.0 and W.S.109.5. All blocks aremadeof 2 x 10's, and are lined with carpetor heavy foam rubberalongcontactfaces.

Guide wires will be needed on wing tips, nose, and tail. To facilitate the attachment of the guide wires the tip tank fairings and nose radome will need to be removed. The tail guide wire can be attached to the tail tie down. These guide wires are to be used for stability only. The guide wires will need one personper wire to guide the lifting and moving of the aircraft.
