A. Lavatories
1.
Removalof Toilet Seat.
(a.) Lift up lid and remove pail.
(b.) Disconnect relief tube hose at floorboard.
(c.) Release wedjit fasteners.
(d.) Lift up frame and slide aft.
(e.) Remove seat.
2.
Installationof Toilet Seat.
(a.) Position seat to proper location.
(b.) Secure bottom frame to wedjit fasteners.
(c.) Connect relief tube hose to floorboard.
(d.) Place pail into position.
(e.) Check relief tube operation by pouring cup of water through horn with button depressed. If
water does not drain, check hose for pinching or kinks.

A. Emergency
Thischapterdescribestheoperationalchecksof the emergencylocatortransmitter(ELT),thepilot's remoteswitchusedwiththeELT,andincludesthe removal andinstallationinstructionsforbattery
replacement.
1. (ELT)EmergencyLocatorTransmitter
TheelectricalpowerfortheELTissuppliedbya self-contained battery.Theuseablelifeofthis
batteryis19 months fromthedateof manufacture.Themandatoryreplacementdateis marked
oneachbattery.ThereplacementdatemustbemarkedontheELTwhenthebatteryisinstalled. Accordingto FAAregulations,thebatterymustbe replaced ifthe transmitter has been usedin an emergencysituationorhasmorethanonehourof accumulated
testtime. Itis necessary to removetheELTfromtheaircrafttoreplacethebattery.
2. BatteryRemovalandInstallation(Alkaline-19 month battery)
CAUTION: Donot removethe insidelip sealantfromthe newbatterypack. The sealantserves as a water tight sealand mustnot be removed.
The ELTis locatedunderneaththe dorsalfin between stations310.00and327.00.
(a)
Removethe accesspanelon the dorsalfin at station321.00.
(b)
Disconnectthe antenna cablefromthe transmitter.(Figure 1)
(c)
Toremovethe ELT,releasethe latchon the strapand slidethe ELToff the bracket.
(d)
Disconnectthe pilots removeswitchharnessfromthe transmitter.
(e)
Extendthe portableantenna. (Figure 2)
(f)
Unscrewthe fourscrewsholdingthe controlheadto the batterycasing. (Thecontrolhead-batterycaseslidesapart. Batteryconnectionleadsareapproximately3" long.)
(g)
Disconnectbatteryby unsnappingthe snapoff batterypigtailterminalsfromthe bottomof the transmitterprintedcircuitboard.
(h)
Beforeinstallingthe new batterypack,checkreplacementdateprintedonthe battery.Mark dateontheoutsideoftheELT.
(i)
Connectnewbatterypackterminalstothebottomof the transmitterprintedcircuitboard.
(j)
Reinsertthecontrolheadsectionintothebatterypack;becarefulnotto pinch wires.Replace fourscrews.If the fourholesdonotlineup, rotate thebatterypack180° andreinsert.
(k)
Connectthepilot'sremoteswitchharnesstothetransmitter.
(I)
Placetransmitterintoitsmountingbracketandlatchstrap.
(m)Connecttheantennacableto the transmitter.Ensurecontactseparatoris inserted between portableantennacontactfingerandportableantenna(seeFigure1).
NOTE: Testunitoperationbeforeinstallingthe accesspanel.
(n) Installaccesspanelonthedorsalfin. Enterthenewbatteryexpirationdateintotheaircraft logbook.
