5. Removalof Wing Tip Tanks (refer to 28-10-00 Figure 401)
(a)
Draintank.
(b)
Removefairingbetween wing tip and tip tank.
(c)
Remove sender unit.
(d)
Disconnectelectricalwires to navigation lights and strobes.
(e)
Disconnectall plumbing from tip tank. Cover ends to prevent fuel contamination.
(f)
Supporttank, remove six bolts holding tank to the wing and remove tank.

NOTE: If necessary,the tip tank dome nuts may be sealed by coating the entire surface of the nuts with with PR 1422 -A 2 sealant. The dome nuts must be coated with sealant on the fuel side as shown above. This will assure optimum lightning protectionfor the tank as well as a fuel seal for the nuts.

7. RemovalofWingFuelCells(referto 28-10-00 Figures402,403,and404)
(a)Drainbothsystemswhenremovingcellsonbothsides.If only onesideis affected, or when replacingorservicingmaininboardfuelcell, close crossfeedvalveand drain appropriatetank or system.
(b)
Removenecessaryaccessplateson wing to gain accesstofuel cell andsenders.When removinginboardmainfuel cell, removeforwardbottomwing root andfuel cell drainpanelsandplates.
(c)
Inboardandoutboardmainfuelcellsinterconnect,
whereapplicable,withnacelletank,wing,andvent system throughfittingsmountedin wing skinlocatedundernacelle. When removingtanks,removetop center panelonnacelleto make accessto fittings. Removeboltsattachingfittingsto wing andallhardwarefromaffectedtank.
(d)
Disconnectwiresfromappropriatesenders,removescrewssecuringeachsendertofitting, and carefullywithdrawsender with itsgasketfromcell. Notepositionof each gasketrelativeto senderunitwhen removing, tofacilitatereinstallation.
(e)
Reachthrough appropriate accesshole.Loosenand disconnect clampsfrom nipples and interconnecting oftubesis necessary, fromwingby
tubes.If replacement remove
disconnectingeachtubeground strap fromsparandfromother tank.
