bearingsupporthousing. (5.) Withboltsremovedfromright pillow block,ensureits free movement.Carefullysliderear tuberight,slidingpillow block withit until tube isfree of bearing; lay block onfloor. (6.) Whentubeis clear of bearing support housing,slidesubassemblies
off tube. Iftube needsto be replaced, jockeyit out from underneath.
(d)Toremovepilotand copilot right pedals or forward torque tube,proceedasfollows:
(1.) Removeboth pillow blockcaps.Reinstallattachmentboltsin right sideblockhousing.Removeboltsin left side of block housing mountingbracket.
(2.) Disconnect brakecylinderassemblies(brake cylinder andextension)fromforward tube support and removeboltssecuringtwotube supports to brackets mountedon pressure bulkhead.
(3.) Removeboltsmountingrudderpedalassembliesto forward torque tube.
(4.) On pilot side,disconnectafttube support from bracket androtate out of way.After removingboltsconnectingpilot left rudderpedalto pushrodand torque tube,slidepedalassemblyasfar to leftas possible.
(5.) Removeclevispinin bearing support housing and disconnect copilotleft brake cylinderfromits extension. (6.) Whileholdingleft pillow block housing,carefullyslideforwardtube left, moving assemblies outof way untiltubeclearsbearing support housing.
(7.) Removenecessaryassembliesfrom tube. If rudder pedaltorquetubeneedto be replaced,removeas many assembliesas possible fromtubebeforejockeyingitout from underneathpanel.
(e)
Sleevesandbearingssupporttubesonrubblocksconstitutea pressedfit. To disconnect, removerivets,heattube,coolsleeve, and bearing;slidesleeveandbearingfrom tube.

Removebearingsupport housings and bearings asfollows:

(g) To remove pilotand copilot right pedals or forward torque tube, proceed as follows:
(1.) Remove clevis pin mountingspecificbearing support housingto tube.
(2.) With reference to aft tube assembly(that closest to pilot and copilot), removebolts retaining pedalsto torque tube and bolts in right pillow block.
(3.) With reference to forward tube assembly, removeboltsretaining pedals to torque tube and bolts in left pillow block. Afterdisconnectingpilotleft brake cylinder assembly (brake cylinder and extension) fromforwardtube support, disconnectsupport from bracket on pressure bulkhead and swing it out of way so forwardtube can slide to left.
(4.) While supporting unconnectedpillowblockhousing,slideaffectedtorquetube and block housingso they clear bearing supportsleeve. A socket wrenchcan be used to remove bolt mounting bearing support sleeve to fuselage supportskin.When pilot block clears mounting pad, lay it on floor.
(5.) With torque tube removedaway from bearingsupport housing, removebearingand housing byratchetingbolt out of sleeve. Note placementof hardware.
(6.)After removing housing,removebearingpressedintohousing.
19.Installationofthe Rudder PedalAssemblies(Figure402)
(a) If rudder pedal torque tubeand pillow block bearing supportsleeve from tube is to be removed, proceedasfollows:
(1.) Fill bucketwith ice cubesand place end of tube so it accepts sleevein ice.

(2.) Heat supportsleevein oven at 350 for 15 minutes.
(3.) Removetorquetube from ice and immediately slideheated sleeve over tube. Be sure to alignholes in two assemblies so longer sleeve end, relativeto rivet holes, faces toward tubeend to be supported in bearing support housingon fuselage side.
(4.) With sleeve properly positionedon tube, install two NAS 1738B blind rivets. (5.) If bearing supporthousingonside of fuselage is removed, replace in reverse orderof removal. (6.) With bearing support housing installed, properlyinsert and align tube in support housing
andalignpillow block in proper position. (7.) Mark supportsleeve where KP21Bpillow block bearing is to be positioned. (8.) Remove torque tube from underneath panel. Install bearingon sleeve.
(b)With torque tubepositionedunderpanel, proceed asfollows:
(1.) Position tubein bearing supporthousingso it is properly placed in right pillowblock, forwardopening. (2.) With right pedal and forward tube support on pilot side slide on torque tube, loosely mount
tubesupport to bracketon pressure bulkhead. (3.) Complete same procedure oncopilot side. (4.) With tube loosely mountedonsupportbrackets,slide it left until bearing on bearing
support sleeve is hanging over floor. Push bearing into proper pillow block housing by aligninghousing bearing slot with bearing and pushing housing up onto bearing. If fit is tootight, ensure bearing is properly aligned and appropriate bearingis used. Finally, rotate housing around tube and carefully push housingon with soft mallet.
