1.TRIM TAB NEUTRAL POSITION IS TAB TRAILINGEDGEEVEN WITH THE TRAILING EDGEOF THE ELEVATOR, OR ITS NEUTRAL POSITION.
2. TRIM TAB FREE PLAY MUST NOT EXCEED
0.126MAX. AT THE TRAILING EDGE OF THE TAB.
3. RIG ELEVATORS WITH ELEVATORS IN NEUTRAL POSITION (PINNED AT AFT SECTOR). VERIFY THAT RIGHT HAND ELEVATORTRAILING EDGE IS ALIGNED WITH LEFT HAND ELEVATOR TRAILING EDGE. ADJUST LENGTH OF ANTI-SERVO RODS TO OBTAIN 0.12" ± 0.12" TRAILING EDGE UP OF THE RIGHT HAND TAB AS MEASURED ON THE INBOARD TRAILING EDGEOF THE TAB.

7. Removalof Elevator PushTube (Figure 401)
(a) Removebullet, aft access plates on tail and vertical stabilizer, and bullet assembly on top of verticalstabilizer.
(b)After removing bullet assembly fromtop of vertical stabilizer,block or tie control horn so elevator remains in most upwardpositionwhentube is releasedfrom sector.
(c)
Withelevatorin most upward position, tubeand connecting arm on aft sector must protrude through slot on bulkhead to which the sector is attached. Reach through aft access hole in tail and disconnect tube from sector by removing AN4-13Abolt.
(d)
Removerestraint from control horn. Allow elevator tomove to down stop.
(e)
With elevator in down position, tubeconnectionto control arm is now accessible. Disconnect tube from elevator horn and pull out of tail.
(f)
Disconnectelevator down spring and apply retardantwithspring in extended position.(Refer to Lubrication Chart in 12-20-00 for corrosion retardantsused on elevator down spring.)
8. InstallationofElevator Push Tube (Figure 401)
(a)
Connectelevatordown spring.
(b)
With elevator in down position, tube connection to control arm is now accessible, insert into tail. Connecttubeto elevator horn.
(c)
Installrestraintto control horn. Move elevator to most upward position.
(d)
With elevator in most upward position, tube and connecting arm on aft sector must protrude through slot on bulkhead to which the sector is to be attached. Reach through aft access hole in tail and connect tubeto sector by installingAN4-13Abolt.
(e)
Remove restraint from control hom. Allow elevatorto move to down stop.
(f)
Installbullet, aft access platesontail and vertical stabilizer, and bullet assemblyontop of verticalstabilizer.
