A.  Flaps (continued)
23.  Electrical System Functional Test Procedure
NOTE: All J1 connections are airframe connE410and K1 and K2 relaysare airframe supplied reversingrelays.
(a)
Placeleft engine bustie switch, rightengine bus tie switch, and non-essentialbus tie switch in OFFposition. Pullall essential bus circuitbreakersto OUT position.

(b)
Actuateflap motor and flap control circuit breakers.

(c)
Turn on battery masterswitchor connect external power to aircraft.

(d)
Operateflap selectorhandlein control box. Observe up anddownoperationof wing flaps.

(e)
Checkfault light if wing flapsfailto operate. Iffault light is on, proceedto step (m). If fault light is off, proceed to step (f).

(f)
Ensure27.5 volts existat motor contactorand pin 1 of connector J1 (airframeconnE410) to verifycircuit breakers and wiring are installed properly.

(g)
Checkfor 27.5 voltsacrosspowerterminals of bothK1 and K2 (reversing)relays.

(h)
Disconnect flex shafts from motor assembly.

(i)  
Remove electrical harness plug from connector J1 and ground relayK1 at pin 6 of connector or relayK2 at pin 4 of connector. Apply27.5 volts to drive motor be energizing up and down relaysK1 and K2 locally.

(j)  
If drive motorfails to operate, checkup and down limit switches in 27.5 volt leg of coils for relaysK1 and K2for 27.5 volts at NC contactson limit switches.

(k)
Check27.5 volt power at drive motors whilean assistant energizesrelaysK1 and K2. If 27.5 voltsdoesnot exist at drive motor, contactsof relays K1 or K2 are defective. Replacedefective relays. If drive motor operateswhen energizing relaysK1and K2 locally,problemexistsin eithercontrolbox, left wingpotentiometerRL, right wing potentiometerRR, or in flap control amplifier.

(I)  
Reconnectflex shafts to motor assembly.Connectelectricalharnessplug to connector J1.


(m)Pull flap motor circuit breaker to preventflap motor fromrunning remainder of test procedure.
(n)
Usingprecisionvoltmeter(10 volt range), connectnegativeleadto amplifier, and test jack amplifierand positivelead to RC test jack. Slowly operateflap selectorhandlein control box throughentirerange. Voltagereadingsmustbe approximately 9-volts in DOWN positionand approximately4-voltsin UP position.

(o)
If RC voltage readingsare too high or too low, problem existsin either harness wiringor control box. Wring out harnesswiringand repair or replace, if defective. Replacecontrolboxonly if harnesswiring isfunctional.

(p)
Connectvoltmeterbetweentest jacksRR and RL on amplifier. If voltageexceeds0.5volts, shut down is due to flap asymmetry.Correct cause of asymmetry and rerig flap system.

(q)
Connectvoltmeterbetweentest jacks RR and GND on amplifier. Voltagemust be within0.3 voltsof RC voltage.

(r)  
Connectvoltmeterbetweentest jacks RLandGND on amplifier. Voltagemustbe within 0.3 voltsof RC voltage.

(s)
If voltagereadingsin either step (q) or (r) exceeds0.3 volts, shut down is still due to flap asymmetry.Correctcauseof asymmetry andrerig flap system.

(t)  
If problem is not found,replaceamplifier.

(u)
Turn battery master switch OFFor remove externalpowerfrom aircraft.
