(a) Dry Calibration Procedure(continued)
(12.) Set NORM/MEAS switch on interface harnessto MEAS position. (13.) Set switches on fuel calibration test set as follows:
(a.) Set MEAS INT/MEAS EXT switch to MEAS EXT position.
(b.) Set NORM/CAL switch to NORM position.
(14.) Check gauge on fuel calibration test set for capacitance reading of 178.0 ± 17.8 pF. If capacitancereadingfalls within these limits, proceed to step 16; if capacitance reading does not fall within those limits, proceed tostep (15.).

(15.)Checkindividualfuel sensors as follows:
(a.) Disconnectinterfaceharnessfromfuel calibration testset.
(b.) Connectfuelsensor testing harnessto fuel calibration testset.
(c.) Disconnectwiringfrom tip tankfuel sensor andconnectrespectivecoloredwires from

fuel sensor testingharnessto wires protrudingfromfuel sensor. (d.) Checkgauge on fuel calibration test set for capacitancereadingof 17.66± 1.76 pF
(referto 28-40-00 Chart 501). If readingis notwithin limits, replacefuelsensor. (e.) Disconnect test harness andconnectrespectivewiresof sensor to harness. (f.) Repeatsteps c thru e for the otherfuelsensors,exceptcheckgaugefor capacitance readingsasshownin 28-40-00 Chart 501. (g.) Disconnect fuelsensortesting harness fromfuel calibrationtest set. (h.) Connect interfaceharnessto fuel calibrationtest set, fuelquantityindicator,andmain
harness.

(16.) Add 3 gallons of fuel at tip tankfiller point. Wait 15 minutes for fuel to settle in the wing.(17.) Set both interfaceharnessswitchesto NORM position. (18.) Set fuel quantityindicatorto read 0 lbs by adjustingpot marked EMPTY LEFTon backof indicator. (19.) Set NORM/SIM switchon interface harnessto SIM position. Set MEAS/SIM switchon fuel calibrationtest setto SIM position. (20.) Determine capacitancevalue necessary to makefuel quantity indicatorread0 lbs as follows:
NOTE: Do not adjustEMPTYLEFTpoton back of fuel quantityindicator.
(a.) Turn FINESET knob on test setuntil fuel quantity indicatorreads0 lbs. Set MAIN
CAPACITANCEswitchas required. (b.) Set MEAS/SIMswitchto MEAS position. (c.) Set MEASINT/MEASEXT switch to MEAS INTposition. (d.) Record capacitancevalue (in pF) on test setgauge.
(21.) Add 118.0 pF to capacitancevalueobtainedin step(20.)(d.). (22.) Set MEAS/SIM switchto MEASposition. Set MEAS INT/MEASEXTswitchto MEAS INT position.
(a.) Turn FINETESTknob on test set until capacitancevalueontest set gauge equals
capacitancevalueobtainedin step(21.). (b.) Set MEAS/SIM switchto SIM position. (c.) Set fuel quantity indicatorto read1950 lbs by adjusting FULL LEFT pot on back of
fuelquantityindicator.

(23.) Set NORM/MEAS switchand NORM/SIM switch on interface harness to NORM position. Ensure test set gauge reads 0.0 pF. If not, repeat steps (17.) thru (22.). If reading of 0.0 pF is still not attained,replace fuel quantity indicator.
(24.) Disconnect test set, interface harness, and adapter harnesses from left main harness and
fuel quantity indicator.Connect left main harness to fuel quantity indicator.
(25.) Disconnect right main harnessfromfuel quantity indicator.
