1.  General Purpose Description(continued)
ProgressiveCycle InspectionRecord and Sign Off Sheet-is used upon completion of the two eventinspections(200flight hours). The cycle record includesthe aircraft registrationnumber, serial number, and columns for recordingeach cycle inspection. It also containsa list so that the personconductingthe inspections canascertainthat all paperwork and inspection recordsare in orderbeforestartingthe next cycle.
Discrepancy Record -is a log of discrepancies which may or may not requirecorrectiveaction.
FAAAirworthinessDirectivesand/or manufacturer's servicepublications,and items discovered
away from station or on the event inspection,not requiring immediate action, may be entered on
the discrepancy record form providing compliance with the AD or service publication at the next
event will be within the time allowance permitted.CertainFAA or manufacturer's mandatory
inspectionsmayhave to be accomplished beforefurtherflight, in which case, their compliance
shouldbe recordedon the appropriate record.
Service Publication ComplianceRecord-is used to record the complianceof all manufacturer's service publications.
FAA Airworthiness DirectivesComplianceRecord-is used to record the complianceof applicable AD notes.
EquipmentChangeRecord -is a form to recordequipmentchangesand overhaul timeswhich
allows the control of equipment times for inspectionor overhaul replacement. By use of this record
the out-of-sequence equipmentcan be reviewed to permit a projection of equipmentdue times in
relationto the aircraft flight hours.
2.  Definitions:
(a)
Inspections-Must be performed only by CertifiedMechanicswho are qualified on this aircraft, utilizingacceptablemethods,techniquesand practices to determinephysicalconditionand detect defects.

(b)
Checks-Can be performed by pilots and/or mechanicswho are qualified on this aircraftand consists of examinations in the formof comparisons with stated standardsfor the purpose of verifyingcondition,accuracyandtolerances.

(c)
Detailed Inspections -Consists of a thorough examinationof the appliances, the aircraft and the components and systemswith such disassemblyas is necessary to determine condition.

(d)
ApprovedInspection-Means a continuing airworthinessinspectionof an airplane andits variouscomponentand systemsat scheduled intervalin accordance with procedures approved by the Administrator of the FederalAviationAdministration.

(e)
InspectionTime Limitations -Late compliance with the inspection interval of 100 hour may be extendedby not morethan ten (10) hourswhile enroute and for changing an inspectioninterval becauseof service experience. The time usedto reach the next inspection facilitymust be deductedfrom the nextinspectiontime.

(f)  
Tests-Operationof aircraft components, appliancesor systemsto evaluate functional performance.

(g)
OperationTest -This testis used to ascertain that a system componentis in operablecondition andcan be performedwiththe equipment installed in the aircraft. In addition, eachoperational testmustbe performed by an FAA Certified RepairStationappropriatelyrated or by a Certified Mechanicwho is qualified on this aircraft. The recording of the above function must be made in the permanent aircraftrecords by the authorized individualperformingthe test.

FunctionalTest-This test is used to ascertain that system or component is functioning properly and is in conformance with minimum acceptabledesign specifications. Thistest may require the use of supplemental bench test equipment. In addition, eachfunctionaltestmust be performed by an FAA Certified repair Station with appropriateratingsor by a Certified Mechanicwho is qualified on this aircraft. The recording of the above function must be made inthe permanent aircraftrecords by the authorized individualperformingthe test.

(i)  
Bench Check -Means removal of component from the aircraft to inspect for cleanliness, impendingfailure, need for lubrication, repairor replacement of parts and calibration to at least themanufacturersspecificationsusing the manufacturers test equipment


recommended or standardsor the equivalent. Each bench test will be performed bya Cheyenne Service Center, FAA Certified Repair Station with appropriate rating or by a certified mechanic. This test will be performed at the scheduled interval regardless of any bench test performed ona particular componentwhile being repaired/overhauledbeforescheduledinterval bench test. After the component is installed into theaircraft,an operational test of the component and its related system should be performed to ensureproper function. Serviceable parts that were issued to the component will be filed in the aircraft permanent records. The person performing the check must make appropriate entries in the aircraft's permanent maintenancerecord.
