(m)Wipeinsideof cell clean with clean,soft,lint-freetackcloth; inspect cleanliness.
(n) To attach fittings in nacelle wing skins, proceedasfollows:
(1.) If fitting canbe reached throughnearbyaccesshole,hold cell andgasketup against attachmentbracketandinsert several bolts.
(2.) If fitting cannotbeinstalledas above, reach downthroughremovedaccessplateon nacelle,insertthreadedrod or bolt through holein wing bracket,downintocorresponding holein cell nutflangefitting,andpullcellupagainst bracket. Installseveralcap bolts to hold fuel celluntilrod is removed,installremainingbolts,and torque to 35 ± 5 inch-pounds.
(o)Connectfuellinesattachedto outboardendsof fuel cells anddrainlinerunningfrominboard endof main outboardfuelcellto inboard end of main inboardcell.
(p)
Connecttwocrossovertubesbetweenmaininboardandoutboardfuel cells byinsertingtubes intonipplesin each celland installing clampsfrom inside cell. Torqueclampsto 60 -65 inch-pounds.Ensuregroundstraponcrossovertubesis attached to spar.
(q)
Installsenders,gaskets(oneoneachsideof bracket), andscrews.Tightennylonscrewsto 5 +2/-0inch-pounds.
(r)
Connectsenderwires. Ensureinsulatorsleeveinsulatessowires attach to sender. Install senderaccessplates.
(s)
Drawnylontie cords tightandhold.(Referto 28-10-00Figure403 for positioningoftie cords onoutboardfuel sender on main fuelcell.) Ensure cellis positioned correctlyin cell compartment,
drawcord tight, holdwithclamp or pliers, andtie. (referto 28-10-00 Figure 406)
(t) Install remaining cellcoveraccessplatesontopof wing. Torquecellcovercapboltsto 25 ± 5 inch-pounds.
(u)Checkforfittingleaks in cellby inserting fuel.
(v) Installremainingaccessplates,lowerwingrootfairing,and nacelle top panel.

10. Testingof FuelCells
NOTE: Eitherof thefollowingleaktests maybe usedto detectleaksin the bladdercells. The chemicalleaktest isthe moresensitiveandpreferredtest.
(a) Performthe soapsuds leaktestasfollows:
(1.) Attachtestplatesto allfittings.
WARNING: DO NOTEXCEED0.25PSIWHENINFLATINGFUELCELLS.
(2.) Inflatethe cellwith air to a pressureof 0.25psi maximum. (3.) Applya soapandwatersolutionto all repairedareassuspectedof leakage. Checkfor bubblesto appearat anypointwhereleakageoccurs. (4.) Aftertesting,removeall platesandwipesoapresiduefromthe exteriorof thecell.
(b) Performchemicaltest as follows: (1.) Attachtestplatesto all butonefittingopening. (2.) Mix 40gramsof Phenolphthaleincrystalsin 1/2gallonof ethylalcohol. Add 1/2gallonof
waterafterthe crystalshavedissolved.

(3.) Pourammoniaas suppliedon an absorbentcloth inthe ratioof 3cc (1teaspoon)percubic foot of cell capacity.Placea saturatedclothinsidethe cell and installthe remainingtest plate.
WARNING: DO NOTEXCEED0.25 PSIWHENINFLATINGCELL.
(4.) Inflatethe cell withair to a pressureof 0.25psi maximum.Maintainpressurefor a minimumof 15 minutes.
(5.) Soaka largecleanwhiteclothin the phenolphthaleinsolution,wringit out thoroughly,and spreadit smoothlyonthe outersurfaceof the cell. Pressthe clothdownto ensure detectionof minuteleaks.
NOTE: Redspotson the clothwill indicateleakage.
(6.) Checkthe clothfor redspotswhichwill indicateleak. Markanyleaksfound.
(7.) Repeatstepse. and f. for remainingoutersurfaceof fuelcell.
NOTE: Phenolphthaleinsolutionandtestcloth canbe reusedonlyif they remainclean. Storesolutionnotin immediateusein a closedrustproofcontainerto prevent evaporationanddeterioration.
(8.) Repairfuelcellasnecessary.
(9.) Removeallplatesandtestequipment.Purgecellwithfreshair.
