7. Removal of Fuel Filter Screen
(a)
Closefuelshutoffvalve.
(b)
Drainfuel from filter assembly. Remove drain valve lever from fuel filter assembly by removing clampattachedto filter bowl.
(c)
Unscrewdrainvalvefrom filter bowl.
(d)
Unscrewfilter bowl from body.
(e)
Removescreenand inspect seals on retainer and body assembly. If seals are deteriorated or damaged,replace by scrapingthem off their fixture (or replace retainer) andgluing on new ones.
(f)
Removeold O-ring in body assembly.
8. Installationof FuelFilter Screen
(a)
Ensurescreenseals on body assemblyand retainer are in good condition and solidly mounted.
(b)
InstallnewO-ringin body.
(c)
Insert screen in bowl and install bowl on body.
(d)
Attach drain fitting and drain lever.

9. Installationof Fuel Filter
(a)
Positionfilter housing in proper location; secureto mounting bracket with three cap bolts and safety.
(b)
Connecttwo fuel lines to proper fittings.
(c)
Attach fuel bowl quick drain actuator handle removed to mounting clamp on filter bowl with screw,washer, and nut.
(d)
Connectfilter bowl drain hose to fitting on bottom of bowl.
NOTE: Fuel cells must be 90% full to get fuel flow from filter.
(e)
Turn fuel shutoff valve on and depress fuel filter bowl drain valve until steady flow of fuel exists. Release handle and check for leaks where filter bowl assembly screws into head assembly, and where two fuel lines and filter bowl drain line attach to filter housing.
(f)
Install top engine cowl.
10. Removalof Jet Transfer Pump (refer to 28-20-00 Figure 401)
(a)
Withcrossfeedvalve off, drain system. If both systems must be drained, leave crossfeed on.
(b)
Removenecessarywing root fairings.
(c)
Disconnectfuel lines from pump.
(d)
Removeretaining clamps and slide pump inlet port out of tank nipple.

Removelowerwing root fairing from undersideof wing where pumpis to be removed.
(c)
Removeaccessplate on top of wing,aheadof main spar, nextto fuselage. Remove fuel cell coverplateto gain accessto fuel pumps(referto 28-20-00 Figure402).
CAUTION: WHENDISCONNECTINGANY ELECTRICALCONNECTIONON FUEL PUMPS, A WRENCHMUSTBEUSEDTO BACK UP EACHTANKCONNECTIONTO PREVENTNYLONFITTINGFROMTURNING.IF FITTING TURNS,INTERNAL WIRECONNECTIONWILLBREAK,NECESSITATINGPUMPREPLACEMENT.
(d)
In wing root cavity, backup and disconnect electricalconnections,fuel,and drain lines from pump.
(e)
Whileholdingpumpthrough cell accessopeningin top of wing, an assistance mustremove four pumpmountingbolts in wing rootcavityand pull pump up and out of fuel cell.
13. Installationof SubmergedFuelPump
(a)
Installnewgasketon fuel pumpmounting boss, insertpumpintocell, and hold in place while assistantattachesit to wing but rib with four mountingbolts.
(b)
Reconnectelectricalconnections,fuel,and drain lines andensurevalvesare positioned properly.
(c)
Installfuelcell cover plate and access plateon top of wing. Fill fuel cell through nacelle filler and check all connectionsin the wing rootcavityfor leaks.
(d)
Installlowerwing root fairing.
